  • Grace for Your Business Vision - How to Restart after Giving Up?

When God created us, entrepreneurs, He put a dream in our hearts. Most of us start our businesses off with that dream. We have some kind of dream, plan, or project that we want to do with our business life, our vision. I’ve read comments and talked to hundreds of Godpreneurs over the years, and I discovered while everybody tends to start early in business with a vision, as days and months and years go by, people give up on the dream before it’s accomplished. Most people give up on their business vision and goals because it doesn’t happen fast enough. Some of you have had your dream battered or bruised. Some of you have had your dream broken, and out of discouragement and disappointment, you have buried your entrepreneurial dreams. You’ve given up. But God doesn't want you to do that. The Bible says For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3 ESV) If God gave you that dream for your business life, it's going to happen in His timetable, not in yours. He has a will for your business life from the beginning to the end. He knows your past; He knows why you’re where you are, and he is willing to help still. He is going to pick you up right where you are, and He’ll give your company a whole new beginning. That’s what grace in business is all about! Are there second chances in business? We have a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth
I mean, praise God that we can keep on launching and relaunching! He doesn’t just cut us off because we missed it somewhere. God has a plan for your business life. That plan is fantastic, it’s perfect, and it’s perfectly suited for you! Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever is going on in your bank account, His business plan is the best. It brings him glory and honor and is fulfilling to you and me. Now get up and go! #WheretoStartFirst #GainConfidence

  • How to Be ‘Anxious for Nothing’ In Your Business

It’s 3 in the morning and you can't sleep. You toss and turn, rolling from one side to the other; nothing helps. Everyone else is sleeping, but not you. It's now 3:30 am and you're staring at the ceiling. Your anxiety has taken complete control. The clock on the wall keeps ticking; you cover your head with the pillow to not hear it. You feel like crying. You're depressed, alone, scared, and stressed. What a mess you and your business plans are in. What does all this anxiety mean to a business owner? All this trepidation, all this insecurity, all this worry, all this restlessness. What's the meaning of it all? Well, anxiety in business means simply this: YOU ARE AN ENTREPRENEUR đŸ’Ș You’re not dumb, you’re not emotionally underdeveloped, you’re not incompetent or too green to own a business, your parents didn’t fail you; it doesn’t mean you failed them, and, this is important, it does not mean you are not a Christian. Christian entrepreneurs battle anxiety. Jesus did. In the garden of Gethsemane, on the night before his crucifixion, He prayed for the cup of suffering to be taken away from Him. In fact, He prayed with such ferocity, the capillaries burst and rivulets of crimson rolled down His face. Jesus battled anxiety. He faced fears, but He fought through His fears, surrendered them to God, and fulfilled his mission. Anxiety did not win, and this is God's plan for you too! The Bible says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6) Anxiety comes with entrepreneurship but it doesn’t have to dominate your business life. God's plan for you is not an entrepreneurial journey that is drenched in anxiety. It's God's will that you and I learn to run an operation that is characterized by peace and not panic; by calmness and not chaos. Yeah but Alex, I'm drowning in my business - like I’m still showing up, but barely keeping it together. I’m making it, and I’m smiling, but nobody knows what’s really behind this smile - the things I think about some days on my way home. I just want to run away from it all. I want to suggest something to you Godpreneurs today about the storms of anxiety in your business life, and about the waves and the winds that are tossing you and your plans around. Listen, those winds will keep blowing, and the waves will break and they will crush you, no doubt about it. However, you have a choice of who accompanies you through those storms. Will you invite misery or God? Will you invite death or life? Will you invite loneliness or the God that will never leave you or forsake you? There are things happening in your business that you’re afraid of that makes no sense if you're truly inviting God to walk this entrepreneurial journey with you. There are people that are causing you to shut down. There are circumstances that are senselessly paralyzing you. However, when you put those things in the context of who the God is that is walking by your side, and what you mean to Him, you begin to train your heart to be anxious for nothing.

  • Prayer for Discovering Your Purpose in Entrepreneurship

Are you struggling to see clearly and make decisions in your business? It could be because you can’t understand or see God's purpose or plan for you and your entrepreneurial walk. First, we have to choose to believe that God does have a plan, and it's a plan that He expects us to discover and walk-in. The Bible says “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.” (Psalms 57:2 ESV) By design, God set up prayer in supplication as the key to understanding God’s plans. God has numbered the days of your business and will fulfill every purpose He has for you. Imagine if we all earnestly and dependently looked to God alone for the power and possibility of the future of our businesses. Start by praying this prayer for understanding God's purpose and plans for your entrepreneurial walk. **** BEGIN PRAYER **** Father God, I confess it's been difficult to fully let go of my anxieties as an entrepreneur and in my business when I can’t see evidence of all that you’re doing – when I can’t understand or see your purpose or plan - what I was born to do. Today, I pause and remind myself of my dependency on you. I know in my heart that my circumstances and plans are touched by your hands. Isaiah 55:8 reminds me that my thoughts are not your thoughts – and that my ways in business are not your ways. When I am struggling to see my calling clearly and decide which direction I should take, I'm not alone, and that inner peace is something only you can supply. So today, Lord, I purposefully, even urgently, say again that I choose to believe in you and that through the Holy Spirit, I will be revealed what I was born to do in business. I know that it’s often in the most cloudy, confusing, and challenging times you are most at work. Thank you for being the one who gives me the strength to help and serve others in the marketplace and to see distinctly the choices I face. As I scan my horizons, I know that I also must look to you alone for the power and possibility that is the future of my business. I ask for your guidance so that I might pilgrimage fully in your entrepreneurial path – a path that you have blessed. I also ask for your face to shine on me – individually and on my team and partners. Please bring to fulfillment all that you have given me to do in the weeks, months, and years ahead. Give me a heart of wisdom to hear your voice, and then make my footsteps firm. Please make me strong through your favor and grace. #TrustOnGod #PrayForYourBusiness

  • Can't Develop a Daily Bible Habit? Here's a Tip for Christian Entrepreneurs

Even though we know as Christian entrepreneurs that we need to study God’s Word regularly, we often think about the most efficient way to structure this daily routine, especially with how busy our businesses keep us. When I was first getting into the habit of reading my Bible daily, I couldn't find the motivation. It felt obligated and a little fake. I knew it was good for me. I knew I needed to do it. But I just couldn't get the routine to stick. All of us Christian entrepreneurs trying to run businesses God's way desire to know God's word. And we know from biblical instruction and from our pastors and spiritual leaders that we should be reading the Bible regularly. However, it's not enough to only rely on the Sunday sermon or occasional Bible study. Us business owners are bombarded DAILY with issues that we need to be prepared for. For that reason, we need to be getting the Word of God inside of us not only on Sundays but throughout the week. In fact, it should be part of a successful entrepreneur's daily morning routine. I'm called "Daily Godpreneur" because my mission is to inspire God first business owners to put God first in morning routine and watch how God transforms everything else for His glory. I call this my daily morning huddle with God. Business teams have daily huddles for productivity. Sales teams meet daily with their manager to get motivated. Project teams get together briefly every morning to uncover anything that might be holding a project back and to move forward with a solution. CEOs have morning checkups with their executive team. If this is how business operates already, then why would our morning time with God be any different? The Bible says Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (Psalms 119:105 NLT) I want to share my "daily devotional" routine so you can learn how I spend my time praying and studying the Word of God, and how it applies to my business. NOTE: Although the Bible tells us the basics of what we need to do daily as part of our Christian devotion, it gives us freedom as to how to do it. I'm going to show you my particular way because it works for me. You can follow it or be inspired by it and create your own. The Basic Structure of Daily Bible Study Routine The basics of your daily time with God will include Prayer on what to read Reading about what feels right Meditating on that thought And for EXTRA CREDIT, Journaling privately Sharing thoughts publicly There are no rules on how exactly you read God's Word, but there are indications that it should be done DAILY. The Bible says "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." (Joshua 1:8 ESV) Notice that the Bible doesn't list EXACTLY how you need to do this. There are no terms of when, where, and how much has to be read. That's up to you. What's important for you to understand is that if you want your ways to be prosperous and business to be successful, then the most important thing is to just do it. If you're just staying out on developing a DAILY routine, then start with a practical activity that I also do daily. Time and Place: Pick one place in the house you always do your studying, and pick a window of time that this activity falls into. Create a pattern in your mind: wake up, brush teeth, make coffee, listen to 3 worship songs, sit down and open Bible. Embrace technology - I do everything from my phone, not a physical Bible. It works better for me. Set reminders - if you commit to a block of time, why not add it to your Google calendar. Don't compare - Don't worry about measuring yourself against anyone else, especially me. I'm a writer and teacher. Your pastor has to do this as his job. Don't beat yourself up because you're not putting in the work like they do. I pray you'll consider my examples and that will encourage you to develop a daily Bible reading habit. Stop feeling guilty that your devotional life doesn't look like others. They're on a different journey. We should start wherever we can start. It could be 1 minute per day, it could be 1 hour per day. More important than the the "how" is that our minds begin to develop the DAILY habit of depending on the Word to guide our business days. Imagine if all of us Godpreneurs did whatever we could to establish a pattern of regularly reading the Word of God. How different would the marketplace be? That's the motivating thought in my heart for continuing Daily Godpreneur. #ChristianBloggers #TimeManagement

  • Why I Stopped Branding Nightclubs and Strip Clubs

My company was heavily involved in nightlife graphic design. We were the leaders in designing the flyers that would be distributed to promote the club’s events. Along with the nightclubs came all of the other types of "clubs" that entertain people at night: strip clubs. Oh, and we also did work for gay and lesbian clubs. And, I can't believe I'm writing this, however, I have to also confess I did some work for dating websites where we needed to manipulate pornographic photography. My philosophy at the time was...."Whoever paid us would get flyers from us." However, as I grew in my relationship with God, I became convicted of all this work, even the "normal" nightclub work. I was convicted because I'm trying to draw closer to God, but I knew deep down that some of the work we were doing was for industries in direct opposition to God. I was playing for both the good guys and bad guys. Most concerning to me was the example I was setting for my employees - the crew closest to me and witnessing my transformation. We all have people watching us: our children, spouses, friends, family, vendors, employees, clients, and contractors. As Christians, we have magnifying glasses over our every move, especially from skeptics.  God wants us to be leaders that will stand up for what’s right so that we can be great representations of Him in the eyes of nonbelievers. In the book of Nehemiah, we witness Nehemiah’s leadership throughout the rebuilding of the wall at Jerusalem. At some point during his rebuilding campaign, he calls out the Jewish leaders for their wrongdoings in charging interest to their own people. Nehemiah 5:9-11 says, "So I continued, “What you are doing is not right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies? I and my brothers and my men are also lending the people money and grain. But let us stop charging interest! Give back to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves and houses, and also the interest you are charging them—one percent of the money, grain, new wine and olive oil.” Nehemiah knew that, even if he did succeed in rebuilding Jerusalem's walls, the city could not be safe if there were abuses going on within his own people. The building of a God-first company allows you to go deeper than just profits. Godpreneurship is also an opportunity to reform men's (men and women) lives. Your decisions as a leader can convince consciences that God is real. If you walk your entrepreneurial journey in the fear of God, you will not be covetous of worldly gain or cruel toward your brothers and sisters. But nothing exposes religion more to reproach than the worldliness and hard-heartedness of the professors of it. I'll admit that, for a period of time in my Christian walk, I would play the spiritual guy, but then serve the nightlife world. People saw that and were probably calling me - and religion as a whole - a hypocrite. Good words are good things, but good performances are better. Other Christians showed me grace during my transformation and transition out of nightlife, but skeptics don’t know what grace is.  They see things black and white, as it really is. I eliminated doing any kind of work for strip clubs and eventually nightlife as a whole.  I told my employees why I was doing it because they thought I was crazy letting go of the consistent money. Is there anything in your business that makes you look bad, that makes people wonder, that makes you seem hypocritical in the eyes of your employees, vendors, or clients? We entrepreneurs are leaders.  People look up to us.  Let’s set the best example by eliminating any business practices that would be considered ungodly. #StrengthenIntegrity #DifferentiatingMyself All my best, Alex Miranda Get to know me at www.alexmiranda22.com P.S.
