  • In Order to Acquire More Money, God Wants This From Entrepreneurs

    I’ve read a lot of rags-to-riches stories of entrepreneurs who started from nothing, to finally making it as millionaires and accomplishing their dreams. One thing all of them had in common was they didn’t do it on their own. Every story gives credit to someone along the way that mentored them, hired them, showed them, or inspired them. Too often we look at successful people and were impressed by the cars they drive, the houses they live in, or the number of employees they have. We then think that success is the achievement of the acquisition of these things. We draw a straight and direct line between “stuff” and success. But the road to success and the signs of someone who has achieved financial freedom are not through the accumulation of things, it’s through the development of relationships. This is because, in order for us entrepreneurs to achieve the level of financial success we want through our businesses, relationships are necessary. In fact, relationships come before the accumulation of Wealth, so I would say it’s the most important skill set we need to work on. But with so many types of relationships, we can be in, which one is the best? Where do I go if nobody around me is suitable to guide me? How do I form the best relationships possible that will help me be the financial steward I’m called to be? The most important relationship we can have as Godpreneurs is the one with God. And through Christ Jesus, this is the relationship that will teach us how to have the best earthly relationships that will lead to our success. The Bible says: "As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness." (Psalms 17:15 NIV) Here, the Psalmist is saying that vindication and satisfaction come through us becoming intimately closer with God. Do you want to get out of debt? Do you want to accumulate wealth for generations to come? Do you want to be truly successful? Relationships must come first, and the first and most important one is the relationship with God. When we are in a relationship with God, the “stuff” we accumulate becomes less important than the relationships we seek to form. The danger of associating Acquisition with success is that in order to be more successful, you must get more stuff for yourself. And since you’ve made that connection, you think others probably think the same way you do, so you naturally acquire more to try to impress more people and so inside you feel more successful. But Jesus says: Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” (Luke 12:15 NIV) Owning a business is not about the things you accumulate, the size of your workforce, or the awards you receive. If you don’t maintain the right perspective, you’ll become obsessed with things and these things will begin to own you. Your things won’t last. What lasts forever is God, and the relationships with our customers, employees, and the rest of the marketplace we are light into. Don’t judge your entrepreneurial success by the things you accumulate. Instead, you’ll see success through the relationships you’ll foster and develop. It’s why it’s important that you go to networking events, seek out other Godpreneurs, and continually meet with your team and clients. It’s through these relationships that you’ll see the next big opportunity! It’s through a relationship that God wants to bless you abundantly. A Godpreneur’s life is about a relationship and learning how to love God and other people in the marketplace. We Godpreneurs need to build our businesses around eternal priorities. We need to focus on what will last forever. For me, I know if I help someone discover their calling and uncover what they were born to do, I’ve impacted their life forever, and those around them. Therefore, my most important work is being in relationships with more people to help them discover their calling. More material possessions won’t matter in time. What will matter is the relationships I form. And it’s through the obedience of me loving God and loving others where God will bless my financial goals. We all need to make the choice that we’ll seek happiness through relationships and not possessions. Before we Godpreneurs can move toward financial freedom in our businesses, we have to ask ourselves, “What is the primary purpose of my business? To just make more money? What do I talk about, think about, and give my most time to? What am I running my business for?” Imagine if all of us found our contentment in our relationship with Christ? Could you imagine what God can do THROUGH someone who is content and can think clearly?   • Affirmations from a Christian Entrepreneur

    Believe it or not, the first book that inspired my journey towards a relationship with God was “The Secret”. I found this law of attraction so fascinating! Selfishly at first, I began to declare all of these material things into my life, and it worked! As I began to spread the excitement of my findings with friends, one took me aside and said the words that would profoundly change the course of my life forever: “Alex, the law of attraction has some positive aspects, just make sure you know who you’re asking of these things. Give credit to where credit is due. God is this “universe” the book speaks of, and Jesus is the one we ask through.” Brain…exploded. Mind…blown. That’s where my journey of knowing God and Jesus more began. So many qualities of God I love, but one of my favorites is His want and desire to give us everything we ask for under His will. He’s a good, good father. Don’t you also desire to give your children (most of) what they ask for? And one of the ways we communicate in prayer and meditation is by speaking the truth about ourselves…affirmations. The dictionary says an affirmation is "the action or process of affirming something or being affirmed." For example, when I repeat a Bible verse that speaks the truth about me personally, I'm affirming that into my life so I begin to live by that new thought. While some may say it is akin to “fake it until you make it,” I see it a bit more like holding the vision of what I know is and can be true. Mark 11:22-24 says: "And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Tips for Successful Application These are declarations I make almost every morning, OUTLOUD to myself. I have them saved on a Google Doc so I can always edit them. The Google Doc is hyperlinked on my phone’s desktop so I can access it every morning. Finally, I have a calendar reminder set for 8 am every day to open the file and read out the affirmations. Affirmation Ideas you Can Use This is my due season year! My vision is so strong that it pulls me to my goals. I am peaceful in my body, heart, and soul. I easily see the lesson or the blessing in all that is. Every day, I offer gratitude, trust, and faith for everything that happens in my life. I am authentic and present. I am successful in everything I attempt. I am a magnet for money and abundance. Love, wisdom, and discernment coexist in my heart. Deep love is my birthright. When faced with two choices, I always take the higher path. I am guided by God. I am energetic and strong. I see the best in everyone and in me. I focus on what God’s already done for me I am a great leader, husband, father, entrepreneur, business owner, guidance counselor, consultant, investor, accountant, CrossFit athlete, chess player, salesperson, marketing strategist, identity authority, branding expert Success is my duty, my obligation, my responsibility My father is the richest man on earth and I work for Him.  I am taken care of.  I am wealthy.  I have a Millionaire Mind.  I use my wealth and power for the benefit of others. I always choose the Voice of Faith and Victory I have heavy favor – prayer, persistence, patience My great purpose in my business is to give God glory, receive and reflect his love, and act as his agent in bringing benefit to the lives of other people.   • How Faith-Based Agencies Sell More

    I own a branding agency. This means that entrepreneurs purchase my skills as a service provider to launch their brand or business ideas. Since my business provides a one-to-one service, I emphasize my client relationships and make the customer's user experience pleasant. My key to finding success, purpose, and meaning in my agency wasn't through who I knew, but how I served...even without collecting money. As the world's economy continues to grow, many of us "purpose finders" want to succeed by doing God's will, making a difference, and putting the customer first. However, because we're also influenced by more money, perceived success, and influence, we ultimately get sucked into the world's ways. We veer off our pilgrimage by chasing inauthentic relationships, madly collecting social media followers, and obsessing over our brand and story. My friend Kevin taught me a Chinese proverb that goes, "Me, unhappy. Others, happy." It means that when I focus on myself and my desires, I'm unhappy. But when I focus on others and what they want to accomplish, I'm happy. (I've tested it out, it's legit true!) The best way for us faith-based agency owners to approach our businesses is with a servant's heart. Our mindset should be putting our prospects and clients first and building relationships with no strings attached or pressure to buy. Jesus said “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."(Matthew 5:14‭-‬16 NIV) Agency owners who put God first in their business obey God and experience true success and fulfillment by making SERVANTHOOD the basis of their daily decision-making. Serving is like a light that people are attracted to. People can sense genuine care and their walls come down, and authentic relationships form. This is more powerful than any product launch, networking event, or the number of social media followers. If you want to make a difference as a Christian agency owner truly, you do it one prospect at a time. When you show God He can trust you with a little; then He opens the door for more!   • The Money-Attitude God Wants His Entrepreneurs to Carry

    I don’t know about you, but I can’t think clearly when I’m hungry. My brain hurts, I get moody, and I make irrational decisions like ending up in the drive-thru of McDonald’s. In the same way, I can’t think clearly in my business when I’m not happy. If I’m feeling depressed, anxious, or discontent, I make stupid decisions in my business. Sometimes I make NO decisions and just keep procrastinating while I wallow in my despair. We entrepreneurs have so much pressure to bring in money for ourselves, so we are more likely to experience depression and anxiety. We’re the least happy profession, yet we got into this to experience life on our own terms and make more money – things we THOUGHT would make us happy. How can we experience happiness when we’re broke and worried about paying the next bills? How can we be happy WHILE we’re on our climb up the mountain of financial freedom? I believe that in the same way, I can’t make great decisions when I’m hungry, we entrepreneurs can’t make great money decisions when we’re not happy. But God didn’t design it this way. Although the enemy wants to rob us of our present joy, God’s plan is for us to be happy, even while we don’t have it all together financially. The Bible says that God: “richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment” (1 Timothy 6:17). God wants you to enjoy everything around you that you already have. He wants you to focus on the gifts He’s already given you. Why? Because that’s the mindset, you need to have to clearly see the opportunities He’s got lined up for you in the near future. You’re doing better than you think you are. Although the bank account looks slim and creditors are knocking at your door, there’s so much God’s put around you and your business to appreciate. It’s this attitude of happiness that God will bless and release more info. The problem we entrepreneurs experience is that we’re so busy trying to get rich that we don’t enjoy what we’ve already got. I’m not saying to forget about your bank account and the debt you owe. You have to take care of those situations. But you can choose to attack them with an attitude of gratitude or discontent and anxious mood. What are you not enjoying? When I get out of debt, I’ll spend time with my family. If I land this proposal, I’ll be happy with my sales manager. When I get the money to move into my new office, I’ll be happy. The Bible tells us, entrepreneurs: "Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God". (Ecclesiastes 5:19 NIV) We need to enjoy more what we already have. This creates a state of mind that God will bless. This attitude will open our minds and our eyes to opportunity. We need to enjoy what’s already been given to us by God. One of my favorite things to do is sit in the morning in front of my lake and write down my Victories from the previous day and review all the Victories I had written before. We Godpreneurs are as happy as we choose to be. Happiness is our own choice, not a result of what we have. It’s why you see depressed, suicidal Millionaire business owners, and then you see the extremely happy owner of a shoe shop at the corner shopping plaza. One has chosen to be happy, the other chose to not focus on what they have been given by God. We won’t be happy when we have more money or when we’ve got a better hold of our finances. It’s better to correct this happiness issue NOW so our attitudes can be receptive to what amazing opportunities God has for us today.   • Encouraging Entrepreneurs In Your Church to Start a Business

    At one point in my business, I had so little business come in for the month that I couldn’t pay my office landlord the rent money. One of my brothers in church learned about my stressful situation and said: “Alex, my wife and I want to bless you this month and cover your rent.” Tears come to my eyes just writing this blog post. I’ll never forget this act of love and kindness. It was the most charitable thing anyone has done for me. Years later, I look back at that act of kindness, and I see where this friend of mine is at in his own business, and I think to myself “No wonder God is blessing him incredibly in his business and finances. This man keeps investing in God’s Stock Market!”. We Godpreneurs have all had times where we’ve needed help, and we’ve had times when people in our church needed our help. This is God’s “Wall Street,” and we all have the opportunity to buy and sell stock into each other’s lives and businesses. How exactly does this work? It’s quite simple. God wants us to use some of our business profits to help encourage others in our church and to build stronger relationships with each other. In my example, this brother of mine is closer than ever to me. He’s closer not because I feel obligated to pay him back. No. I feel closer to him because of the love of Christ he displayed to me. That’s a feeling I’ll have for a lifetime. When we tithe our money to a church, it draws us closer to our church. Similarly, when we can come alongside a brother or sister and invest in them, we are drawing closer to them. The Bible says: "Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality." (Romans 12:13 NIV) My wife and I participated in a marriage Bible study that another couple hosted in their home. They must have spent over $1000 in hosting us for those 8 weeks. There were food, snacks, beverages, and gift cards at each group! They used $50 gift cards as prizes for participation. Crazy, huh? No. That was them investing in God’s people. And it’s no wonder he’s running one of Miami’s top law firms. His mindset is investing in his brothers and sisters in the church. He’s investing in God’s stock market and seeing a nice return on his investment. But it’s not always about investing actual cash. You can also invest your time, services, or products. This counts too. There are times I host growth groups for entrepreneurs of my church at my office. I typically charge $300/hr to meet with me. I’ve consulted people in my groups and at church for no fees at all. I’ve created brands for people in my church and only passed along the cost of my designer and invested my own time into bringing the brand to life. I’ve also taken brothers and sisters to lunch and paid for lunch so I can help them clarify their brand and business ideas. These are examples of how you can sow into God’s stock market as a Godpreneur without having to put cash out. The Bible says: "Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you." (3 John 1:5 NIV) When we look for opportunities to invest in others in our church, we are allowing God to show His love through us. We are building fellowship and community at church. We are strengthening the body of Christ. We need to see that our profits, products, and services are all tools that God wants to use to further His purpose for us – to be the light of a Christ in a dark, greedy world. Our investments help bring people to Christ.   • Act as a Messenger From God

    It used to be a drag for me to get up early in the morning to read the Bible. I knew as a “good Christian” I was supposed to, but I didn’t have the burning thirst for it like I knew others had. Then, one day, I was reading (out of obligation) and God used a lesson of the Bible to help me through something I was going through in my business. I thought, “well thanks to God, that was helpful.” The next day it happened again. And then the following day again. On the 4th day, I was given the revelation – I needed to teach the entire Bible to entrepreneurs as the best business book on the planet. God’s hand has been on me because I was preparing my heart to search the Bible to help others. That’s the secret sauce to the success of Daily Godpreneur. As Christian business bloggers, we are being set aside to bring God-inspired revelations to our target market of Godpreneurs. If we’re going to step into this calling fully, we need to make sure our mindset is right and that we’re preparing our hearts to consume anything we can relate to our topic, and bring that teaching to the world. In other words, we don’t just write and study the Word to have a quick word for our readers. No, instead of that, we are committed to communicating for change and turning our readers to God, and growing their business by grounding them in the faith by using the Word. This is when we know our writing is blessed! The Bible says: … Ezra came up from Babylon. He was a teacher well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord , the God of Israel, had given. The king had granted him everything he asked, for the hand of the Lord his God was on him. (Ezra 7:6 NIV) Ezra was well versed in God’s Word and committed to teaching that which God revealed to him through the Word. In your writing, you should also be so devoted to getting up in the morning and receiving the Word so you can go onto your blog and teach it. You should be fully ready and anticipating that God’s going to give you a great topic to write about. Who knows, that topic might become the next New York Times bestseller. All you need to do is make sure you’re committed to receiving God’s word daily. That’s a big reason why I urge all of my readers to subscribe to my daily email (www.dailygodpreneur.com/subscribe). Make sure you’re reading it, it will give you ideas for topics to write about. Don’t worry about re-teaching what I write; you have full permission. It’s not my writing anyway; it’s God’s. When our hearts and minds are open, like it happened for me, we’ll find it a lot easier to wake up and be studying the Word. We’ll be excited to see what God has for us next! We can pretty much guarantee an endless flow of blog posts if we commit to being diligent readers of the Word. Our writings will be a natural outpouring of our studies. Since we will be teaching so naturally, God’s character will shine through to the reader; therefore, God will be the one doing the word to change hearts, that’s not our responsibility. The weight of that burden should never be on our shoulders if we’re following this principle authentically.   • Opportunities to Sell, Even in a Jail Cell

    I go to the driving range often to work on my golf swing. One time there was a man who would talk to anyone that would practice next to him. Age didn’t matter, as long as you had a heartbeat, he’d figure out a way to strike a conversation. At some point, he’ll ask you “so what do you do for a living?” After probing a bit, a few more qualifying questions, he’d hit you with the “You want to make some money?” Turns out he’s in the financial field and he recruits people to sell life insurance, etc. While others might think that this tactic is predatory and won’t work, I believe the opposite is true. This man’s job is to help others either gain financial control or help others with their financial life. He uses any and every opportunity brought to him to exercise his work. I applaud him for that. I believe the opportunity is all around us. The problem is that WE are not all around us. What I mean is that our spirit within us is there, but the radar that we’re supposed to turn on that receives opportunity from God is not turned on. We think going to play golf is a time to ‘disconnect’. We all have places we disconnect, times that we go on vacation, and moments where we don’t feel it’s appropriate to ‘sell’. I don’t think we call the shots. I believe the opportunity is always knocking. And God will use whatever situation we’re in for His work to be done. In Acts 16, Paul and Silas find themselves in jail over their passion for Christ. While in jail, the opportunity for preaching the gospel came up and they seized the moment. They could have been bitter, angry, frustrated, and cursed the jail guards. Instead, they sang and prayed, and God literally opened the jail cell so they could “sell” the guard on the life-changing word of Jesus. You might have your reservations on the word selling. You may have been told it’s a bad thing to sell, or don’t be like the overbearing car salesman. If you’re not selling, your kids will be skinny. If you’re not selling your friends and family on the changed life you have, you’re not doing your duty. If you’re not always attuned to the fact that God wants to bring you blessings anywhere and everywhere, you could miss out on the biggest sales opportunity of your life. We all go through dry times, where it seems like no opportunities are around. But God is always there, carrying us through the lows of our life, anxious for us to become aware of the opportunities He has set up for us if we just have faith.   • Why Challenges in My Marriage Make My Business Better

    One of the biggest breakthroughs I had in business and marriage was to rejoice both in the good and the bad times. The way I look at challenges in business and marriage now is as a test of my faithfulness and obedience. The more tests that I pass, the bigger the places that God can take me and my business. For example, I know I can’t make a million dollars until I can faithfully manage 1/2 a million dollars. Also, I can’t manage 10 clients until I’ve learned to manage 5. In the same way, I can’t handle bigger and more complex issues in my business and family until I have handled smaller ones. Remember, the bigger my company gets, the more money I bring in, the more complex the problems will be. Biggy hit the nail on the head – more money, more problems. So if I’m praying for God to increase my business and also make my marriage great again, I’ve understood that I’m indirectly asking God to increase my problems, now TWO FOLD – get it? But don’t worry, the problems are only a test. We Godpreneurs go through ups and downs in the rollercoaster of life almost daily. Every new level of our businesses and marriages will bring on new challenges. HOW we handle those issues will reflect our level of spiritual maturity and our ability to break through to the next level in our businesses. The Bible says: I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. (Philippians 4:11‭-‬12 NIV) You have a choice every day to go through the journey of marriage and Godpreneurship looking at it as a test or a burden. God’s only going to promote you if you can be faithful with a little (Luke 16:10) because He doesn’t give us more than we can handle (1 Cor 10:13). How will you respond the next time an employee picks up and leaves without notice? How will you handle the next time your spouse tells you they don’t love you? How will you handle the next client that doesn’t pay on time for work rendered? Remember, it’s only a test! We Godpreneurs are not afraid when problems hit our business and personal life, but instead, we are confident in the Lord. The key to having faith that God will move mountains is to praise Him all the time. He already has plans for our businesses and marriages to prosper (Jer 29:11)! Godpreneurship and marriage are a battlefield. We’re not only ministers at home, but also in the marketplace. In my opinion, we've see EVEN BIGGER problems than normal entrepreneurs because of the adversity we fight face to face daily. It’s important to stay calm, praise God, and rejoice that this trial will move our spiritual growth and business to new levels. Nobody except for your close inner circle should know that you’re going through this challenge. To employees, vendors, contractors, and clients, they should see you praising, worshiping, and in a positive attitude. Godpreneurs rejoice when we are blessed, and also while we’re facing trials. If we can do this, God will make way for us to grow our marriage, our business, our influence, our finances, and our capacity to create even more for the Kingdom! We will break through unharmed and ready for new seasons of growth. God is destroying mountains and making way for you and your business into new markets and opportunities. We just need to keep our mindset in a place of believing and trusting through prayer that everything we’re going through in our businesses will work out. We Godpreneurs don’t focus on the size of our issues, we focus on the size of our God that has prepared a way where there was no way!
