Lusting for Things vs Trusting in Your Calling – It’s One or the Other

Updated: Aug 6, 2021

Lust isn’t just for sexual desires, it can be for our desires in business too!

Maybe what you crave is dreams of money and entrepreneurial fame. This starts to consume your mind and overwhelm your soul’s purpose in business.

Or maybe it’s something material: that 2nd home near Disney, that shiny Ferrari, that sweet RV. You wake up thinking about everything you’ll buy once you figure it all out, and go to sleep with it on your heart. The Bible says,

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. (Ephesians 5:3 NIV)

Whatever you lust after in business, it takes every ounce of restraint a God-First entrepreneur can muster to hold ourselves back from plowing headlong after it. Why? Because lust makes even the strongest Godpreneur weak.

Let’s all get in the habit of pointing our feet away from the temptation—and turning our eyes away from it. What is it doing on our vision boards anyway? We shouldn’t be putting ourselves in that position. We Kingdom-minded entrepreneurs need to practice common sense and good judgment, know our weaknesses, and shore up our defenses.
