- Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 1: A New Identity
When I first started letting God into my life again, it started out through the area of relationships. I was a South Beach nightclub promoter so I was constantly in and out of relationships with women. Life was empty and I felt lonely. I was looking to settle down. A girlfriend of mine at the time started talking to me about God. To please her, I attended church on Sundays. At first, infrequently and often after a night out at the clubs. Then, I began to see this ‘God thing’ as something much bigger, and I started to crave going and wanting to know more about God. My personal identity was beginning to change. Meanwhile, my business identity remained wrapped in the nightlife world. We were the top nightclub flyer design company. I was writing nightlife marketing books and speaking at the nightlife conventions. We reached almost half a million dollars in sales in one year. But something wasn’t sitting right. My personal identity and my business identity were at odds with each other. As CEO of this growing company, I also began to find myself in a different mindset than my partners, employees, contractors, vendors, and clients. It came to a point where I had to choose. Why choose? Why not keep both? Why not forget about the God thing and just keep riding the upward trajectory of where my company was going. I knew it couldn’t be both. It was either the red pill or the blue pill (Matrix quote). What was my identity going to be in? Christ, or Nightlife? How do we choose God and become a Godpreneur when our whole life we’ve been an entrepreneur, doing business on our own? In becoming a Godpreneur (and staying one), I’ve come across 3 steps that helped me become a Godpreneur and make the choice to put God first in my business. Step 1 – Adopt a God-Like Mindset The first step is knowing that I’m created in God’s image. The Bible says: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27 NIV) Identity is defined as who we are. It’s what makes us who we are; it’s what makes us unique. Still, this can be hard to understand because many of us entrepreneurs are still learning who we are each day, still getting to know God more in our businesses and personal lives. Many of us are being transformed by the renewing of your minds. Many of us are going through a spiritual growth and we’re questioning everything we’ve done up to this point. But we can rest in the fact that God’s identity is our identity, what was lost has been found. If I was born in His likeness, then it only makes sense to own that identity. You were made in the image of God. This is who you are to your very core. No matter what you or others like about yourself or don’t like about yourself, your identity is in God. Step 2 – Eliminate Haters Second point is that our new identity is eliminating the haters. The Bible says: "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood." (1 John 4:4-6 NIV) Your business partners may call you things like church boy or crazy Christian. But God says these things are not who we are. Other people do not choose our identity. God chooses our identity. He tells us who we are. Step 3 – New Partnerships The last step is bringing on a new, stronger partnership. The Bible says: "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:4-5 NIV) He says that we are His creation; He made us entrepreneurs for a reason. And no matter what you like or don’t like about yourself, you matter to God. He created us to have a relationship with Him. Apart from that relationship, we’re on our own in this world. Doesn’t matter how many partners, employees or clients you have, you’ll always be alone if you don’t have God. When we realize that we are made in God’s image, and remove haters from around us, we allow ourselves to partner with the best business partner, the only one we were meant to partner with. When I made the decision to become a Godpreneur, it gave me purpose, it made business make sense to me, and I began to see what my gifting and talents were in business and how God could use them for His greater plan, while helping me achieve my personal and financial goals. Godpreneur Rule #26: A Godpreneur finds his full identity in God. #FindMyCalling #NewEntrepreneurs
- Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 3: Definition
I started a Marketing agency with my 2 friends in 2005. By 2007 we had some major investors, an office in South Beach, and growing staff and client roster. Things were good. Really good. But the recession in 2008 knocked us off our feet. Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. I was on a mission to get more clients, gain popularity, and make more money. I wanted to show others that we had a bunch of employees and we’re an award-winning agency. I was putting on a show, but it was all just that…a show. We can try to have the most clients and the highest revenues or the most awards. We can try to be the best at a particular specialty job. But having a bunch of clients or most employees doesn't define who we are. We have to realize that others cannot create our identity. The problem with having your identity tied to the things I’ve mentioned is that those things are always changing, so your identity will always be on a rollercoaster ride. Your identity will become whatever is popular at the time. God has already told us who we are. He says that no matter how skilled we are, how weak or strong we are, how influential we are, or how many people like us on social media, we are loved by Him and matter so much to Him. The Bible says: "If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is to be praised forever, knows that I am not lying." 2 Corinthians 11:30-31 NIV Through your weakness, you can see how great and strong God is. It doesn’t matter if clients, partners or employees say you aren’t good at something, God says He can use all of you to show His love to the world. We might feel bad about something temporarily, and maybe those are signs of God showing you to change something, but we can’t live a life defined by those instances. God needs us to move on to live the Godpreneur lives for which he created us. Who do you think God says you are? Comment below. Godpreneur Rule #18: Our identity as Godpreneurs is defined by God and not by money, fame, power or influence. These will be blessed upon you through your obedience in staying true to your Godpreneur identity. #ShareYourTestimony #EnhanceFocus
- Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 5: Staying Connected
I started writing my blog daily in 2014. For years, I felt that these writings weren’t meant to be a ‘business’ but instead a time for me to draw closer to God, stay connected to Him, and grow as a Godpreneur. I’ve had visions from day 1 of turning this into an amazing brand for devotionals, workshops, books, DVDs, speaking tours, advertisements on my website, and all that cool stuff that ‘authorities’ in their field do. But I didn’t feel the timing was right. Again, I felt God saying that this was a time of connecting. We entrepreneurs get these visions and our natural instinct is to bring that vision to life right away. I know, I’ve done it myself! We skip over that business planning side of things. We shoot first and ask questions later. We release products without surveying if our clients even want it. We go off our…vision. I’ve been in the logo and website making world since 2001. I’ve had hundreds of entrepreneurs come to me wanting to start businesses TOMORROW without a plan, without really thinking about it all the way through. Yes, there are times that we do too much thinking and it’s time to act. I also believe that as you connect more with God, things begin to happen faster. The Bible says: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5 NIV God knows how to start businesses and make them grow. He just needs somebody to step up to the plate and wait for the right pitch. A vision from God isn’t dependent on us making something happen. Seeds get planted, but God makes those seeds grow. Growth of a vision is dependent on God making something happen. Your temptation is to do something, to act NOW, to get in the driver’s seat and make this bad boy run! But you’re on your own, and you’re likely to foul things up. We need to keep in mind that God’s work, done in God’s way, in God’s time, is always successful. And it comes off in such a way as to point back towards the source: God. Godpreneur Rule #20: Godpreneurs stay connected to God so we carry out His vision according to His plan. #NewEntrepreneurs #LaunchingMyBusiness
- Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 6: The Big Picture
I’ve been helping entrepreneurs make logos and websites since 2002. When I started my relationship with God in 2008, I struggled to see how websites were a part of God’s bigger vision for the world. How were websites getting us any closer to heaven? Then I started learning about purpose and identity, and how God changes our identity (rebranding) and gives us new vision when we are born again. God is in the business of REBRANDING too!!! Then it was revealed to me: I’m supposed to help people find God’s vision for their life, what they were born to do, what God created them to fulfill in business, and I get the privilege to dress it up and let the world know. Wow. We all have a vision that is part of God’s vision. But what if we can’t see what that is? We’ve become masters at separating the work side from our spiritual side. We entrepreneurs are great at leading, taking charge, and (most of the times) not even bringing God into the decision making. The world wants to DIVIDE. The enemy wants us to think that our vision is separate from God’s bigger vision, but that’s a lie. The Bible says "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV You and your business are not separate from God and his plan. Just because you didn’t start a church or a non-profit doesn’t mean you aren’t a part of God’s vision. The key is to start praying and asking God how your smaller vision is a part of his bigger vision. For me, I want to help 10,000 entrepreneurs find their God-given identity, what they were born to do, and help them bring it to life!. We entrepreneurs have the ability to connect our vocation with God’s overall purpose and vision in the world. We must seek how our law firm is part of his plan. We must ask how our contractor business brings about God’s purposes here on earth. Godpreneur Rule #46: Godpreneurs seek out how their businesses fit into God’s bigger vision for the world. #ShareYourTestimony #FindingMyPurpose
- Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 8: Blessings from Obedience
When building a home, you have to pass inspections. You take the plans to the city and they either approve or send you back for revisions. This pattern could repeat itself dozens of times before you finally get their “blessing” to build. So, are your business plans “blessed” by God? Does the vision you have for your entrepreneurial career go against any of God’s baseline beliefs and behaviors? Things like honesty, purity, and integrity should be embraced regardless of the nature of our business. We need the blessing of our Father in our businesses. It doesn’t mean He’s going to rain down money and clients immediately, but it does mean that God could bring more opportunities. There’s also a ‘peace’ that comes from knowing we’re doing God’s will and a ‘guilt’ that comes from knowing we’re not in obedience. The Bible says "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.” 2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV God doesn’t want us at war with ourselves. He wants us living the blessed life. Me, for example. People come to me for logos and websites. I end up helping them discover their identity, what they were ‘born to do’. The reason I know I’m being blessed by God is because I know that knowing your identity is important to God! I feel like I’m doing God’s work here on earth. And because of that, opportunities come to me and clients are magnetically attracted to me. God is bringing me clients whom He wants me to work with. As a Godpreneur with visions, it’s important that we remain blessable. We have to lead our teams the way God would. It doesn’t have to be bible verses all over the office, but whatever your mission statement is, it can’t contradict scripture. Godpreneur Rule #27: Godpreneurs make themselves blessable. #DifferentiatingMyself #GainConfidence
- The Process I Followed to Make God First in My Business
Albert Einstein said: “My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.” That’s exactly how I felt as I began my relationship with God. I graduated Cornell University with a Business, Economics and Marketing degree. I thought I was the wisest man in the world. I started my own business shortly after college and began to take on really big clients and partnerships almost immediately. It wasn’t until 3 years into entrepreneurship that I started going back to church to begin my relationship with God as an adult. One of the first things I discovered about myself was that I had other things in the “first place” position in my business life. Things like money, partying, and notoriety were at the top of my list. So I made the switch. I put God first in my business. The craziest stuff started happening. First off, I started reading business books again. Once I had graduated college, I thought all of that was over. Nope. The spirit was moving me to educate myself more, humble myself to knowing that I don’t know anything at all. Secondly, I started attending a monthly business growth group where we learned the latest and greatest in “what’s working” strategies for growing a business. I believe the spirit was moving me to be in community and grow with others. The Bible says: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine." Proverbs 3:5-10 NLT After God took care of my pride of wisdom, he was then able to reveal to me that not even those things are as important in my business as helping others find God. I can’t be revealed newer and greater things until I’ve been revealed other smaller things that I needed in order to truly understand and appreciate higher level thought. And I look forward to 10 years from now looking back to today and saying “wow, I know so much more now!” I have found God in my business. He has been searching for me all my entrepreneurial career. God was a gentleman and didn’t barge in. I invited him in. Then, through wisdom and understanding, we developed an intimacy and friendship beyond the superficial level. I now have an intimacy with God in my business. One that allows me to trust Him to look out for my best interests so I don’t have to. Granted, I still struggle with establishing priorities and sticking to them. But I wake up every morning with the Bible in my hand, ready to receive and subsequently share a message to Godpreneurs because I have articulated this priority in my life. The wisdom of Proverbs indicates that if God is at the top, every other aspect of my business life will fall into place. I have put this promise to the test in my own business and can vouch for its reliability. God always keeps His word. I will fail, but He never fails. Godpreneur Rule: Godpreneurs Decide to put God ahead of everything else in our business life. #FindMyCalling #FindingMyPurpose
- Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 9: Born To Do
My goal in life is to get to heaven knowing that I did what I was born to do, that I pursued the vision set forth before me. I know I’m supposed to help 10,000 (at least) entrepreneurs find out what they were born to do, and help them bring that to life. I know it will please God for more people to understand and know the identity He has for them! We Godpreneurs have a destiny, a calling, a job assignment, a vision from God to do something great within our passion and purpose. I wrote a 40-day devotional on the life of Nehemiah. I paralleled it with the entrepreneur’s journey. Nehemiah got a vision, knew what he had to do, and didn’t let anything stop him until it was finished. We all end up somewhere in our lives. Nehemiah ended up there on purpose. The Bible says: "I also made provision for contributions of wood at designated times, and for the firstfruits. Remember me with favor, my God." Nehemiah 13:31 NIV Nehemiah knew what it was all for, and this gave him the drive and determination. Like Nehemiah, you have an amazing destiny to fulfill in your business. There are relationships God has lined up, opportunities God has waiting for you, devine appointments are set, it’s your time to step into what you were born to do! We all need a singular encounter with God, a moment of clarity in knowing the vision He has for our lives. We need this to survive the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship. Most important, being a Godpreneur is all about God and his greater purpose. Godpreneur starts with God and ends with God. His glory is the ultimate goal and vision. Godpreneur Rule #3: Godpreneurs never lose sight of the devine nature and significance of their work. #EnhanceFocus #GainConfidence
- Finally, I’m Launching My Idea – Advice 1: Think Big
I went to pitch a client on a pretty big deal. Initially, I wanted to price myself at $10,000. Then my business partner talked me into doubling my price to $20,000. By the time I arrived at the meeting, I told them $40,000. We settled at $30,000. I went from $10,000 to $30,000. That’s a big chunk. Why? Not because of greed. I did it because I wanted to see God show up in the midst of this big proposal I was sharing. I was challenged by my business partner to value myself more. I believe God was talking and teaching through my partner. Sometimes, we entrepreneurs have so much control and power in our businesses that we don’t allow space for God to show up and work the miracles that only He can do. God is dying (literally) to show up and be present in our entrepreneurial lives. We business owners have two choices. We can take the easy route, the safe way, and submit to the status quo and coast along the roller coaster ride. We can avoid the twists and turns and gut wrenching falls if we just take this road that is most traveled. But the Bible says, "David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished. The divisions of the priests and Levites are ready for all the work on the temple of God, and every willing person skilled in any craft will help you in all the work. The officials and all the people will obey your every command.” 1 Chronicles 28:20-21 NIV God didn’t call us for small little dreams. He didn’t create Godpreneurs to just get by. Having the word God inside of Entrepreneur means you’ve been called to a much higher standard of risk taking. It’s a risk with faith. Since God is dying to be present in our lives, He has equipped us to have courage and attack our visions with a sense of faith and resilience that requires His backing. - Finally, I’m Launching My Idea – Advice 2: Fight the Resistance
For 2 years I’ve had an idea God put in my heart to start. It came from a growth group I led for small business owners. The author had a really cool way of helping people find where their ‘fit’ was within volunteering at a church. My thought was taking the principles and applying it to entrepreneurs…helping them find what type of business they should open. I planned the entire thing out. I wrote the workbook, I developed surveys and questions, I laid out the website, I had my designer do graphics, and I even planned the first event. But…I never LAUNCHED if. I never pressed play. And for the last 2 years, I’ve had a rock in my shoe, a thorn in my side, an anxiety and frustration that I never did it. Sound familiar? We entrepreneurs have a tendency to do this. We plan, talk about it, get people fired up, and then we fall short from execution. Maybe you’ve never experienced it in business, but in other areas of your life. A diet you wanted to start, an exercise routine you wanted to develop. We read the books, we have the supplements, but we fail to execute. You’re not alone. And this threat of inaction will never go away so long as we live in this world that has an enemy that seeks to destroy our dreams before we can even start. We’re up against….the RESISTANCE. The Bible says "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV God is letting us know that there is an enemy that sets itself up against God. This enemy attacks the mind. All business ideas start in the mind, and that’s where the enemy seeks to gain control. But this verse also gives the solution. We must take the thoughts captive and made then obedient to Christ. What this means is that we have to see it as our instructions from God into what we need to be doing, and we need to go out and do it…in His name! It’s not enough for you to just plan an idea or tell 3 people about it. That’s half the battle. The other half is actually doing it. That’s when the blood, sweat and tears come out. That’s when the rubber meets the road, when you fight the RESISTANCE that doesn’t want you to get started. If you have a dream paint, then you pick up a brush. If you have a dream to help others repair their credit, then you buy the domain and get the business cards. We all have dreams. Having a dream is important, but EXECUTION is where it all matters. When I get to heaven, I want to hear God say “Well DONE my faithful servant,” because he’s not going to say “Well planned” or “Well thought” or “Well strategized” either. Coming up with business ideas is fun, I love the creation phase. Going after them is the matter. Don’t delay another day on your dreams. It’s now or never. We can’t afford another day of delay. The world needs to know. Can I help you be a little momentum for your idea? Message me, this is what I do as my calling. I’ll send you a resource. - Finally, I’m Launching My Idea – Advice 4: Dealing with Haters
Have you ever ran 10 miles? The first mile is awesome, you’re feeling great. The last mile…well, not so great. There’s an invisible resistance holding you back, voices convincing you to give up, and body parts that will surely make you pay for it in the next days. It seems like it works that same once you start sharing your business idea with people. Your friends and family are supportive at the beginning. There’s an excitement and it seems like this idea is going to take off. Once you get some momentum and this thing is looking for real, you start to get some haters. A family member starts to throw in the negative things that can happen (because he or she failed in the past). A friend starts to guide you in the direction they are going in (because they don’t have the same talents as you). A past client experience has you double guessing your return to try again. We’re all going to face criticism. I believe it’s there to help us grow in the face of adversity. The Bible says "In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation." 1 Peter 5:10 NLT When it shows up, realize two things If you feel you were truly called (born to do) what you’re doing, then keep going. You can’t, you won’t please everyone all the time. Just please God. You’re going to offend someone. In fact, you must offend someone. Your entire business has to revolve around something you’re trying to fix, a problem in the market. That alone means you’re going to face haters. It means you’re on to something BIG. Your venture is going to stir the pot, but keep on going. Godpreneur Rule #84: We Godpreneurs operate under the command of one God that has called us. He turns haters into motivators. #BusinessBibleStudy #FindMyCalling Reviving Your Business Dreams, God’s Way In this course, you will receive the training you need to have a successful business launch and know once and for all that FINALLY, MY BUSINESS IDEA IS LAUNCHED Heard of the Godpreneur Academy? - Finally, I’m Launching My Idea – Advice 5: Celebrate Wins
I used to run my business out of my living room. Employees would come over every morning and the living area was converted into an office. Very convenient for me, and employees didn’t care, but it wasn’t cool for clients. We set out to find an office warehouse to convert into our new creative space. After searching up and down, and through an awesome set of circumstances, we came across the place that I’ve called headquarters since 2010. It’s easy to walk into my office everyday and not remember the struggles of working in my living room. I take for granted that God made some awesome things happen for me to find and continue to stay in my space. Recently I’ve changed my attitude towards my office. When I walk in, I remember what God brought me though to get and keep my place. We entrepreneurs need these reminders around us of the victories we’ve had. The problem is that we’re so stuck thinking about problems and circumstances that we forget to have an attitude of gratitude. If we would set up reminders in our minds, I believe we will begin to tip the scale from worry over to gratitude more often in our days. Back in the Bible says, God would have people set up alters and stones to remember certain events. It happened at the crossing of the Jordan River and many other milestones that the Israelites triumphed, where God mad himself known. In 1 Samuel we read "Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah. He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the Lord has helped us!” 1 Samuel 7:12 NLT The Israelites had just had a major victory and they set up a reminder so that they won’t forget. This was done to make sure their minds were constantly thinking GRATITUDE. You have more things great that happen to you than you know. You’re doing better than you think you are. The problem is you’re focused on the bad things that are currently happening than remembering the past victories. This is why companies put their awards on the walls. This is why companies keep a linkage of employees of the month. This is why it’s important to always write down your victories. I have a reminder to write my victories every day, then review them once a month, then write the MAJOR ones down on a different list. If we all kept remembering where we have come from, it will give us the attitude we need and the gratitude needed to propel us into the plan that God continues to have for us. Godpreneur Rule #105: Godpreneurs constantly celebrate their wins by writing down and revisiting their victories. #FindMyCalling #BusinessBibleStudy Reviving Your Business Dreams, God’s Way In this course, you will receive the training you need to have a successful business launch and know once and for all that FINALLY, MY BUSINESS IDEA IS LAUNCHED Heard of the Godpreneur Academy? - Finally I’m Launching My Idea – Advice 6: Born To Do
I love the word destiny. It means that something is already going to happen, regardless of my control. It doesn’t matter if I screw it up in the present moment, destiny has a different outcome. But the bigger reason I love destiny is because it reveals that there’s a purpose for my existing, a calling over my life, and a caller who orchestrates the entire thing. Wow, what a relief! Right? Knowing I was born to do something for God keeps my entrepreneurial engine running, keeps the fuel going, keeps the fire burning. But the trouble we run into as entrepreneurs is we want to control as much as possible. If we could control destiny, we would. But we can’t, and that might paralyze some of us. Destiny wasn’t meant to be controlled, it was meant to give us faith and hope that what we’re doing today will have an impact for God’s kingdom in the future. We can’t control destiny, but we can live a life of purpose and passion today for. We entrepreneurs have a duty and obligation to live into our destiny. And although we really won’t fully know our destiny (especially since it outlives us beyond our existing on earth), we can know what we were born to do today, right here, right now. The Bible says “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 NLT God planned us from way before you were conceived. It’s your spiritual birthright to be a Godpreneur. He has planned out your days and prepared the good things we’ll do. Personally, I was born to help people find out what they were born to do, and help bring those visions to Life. That’s my identity. My destiny is still to be told, but I know it’s amazing! This is what keeps me going everyday through the grind. What’s your calling? Are you letting destiny take its course so you can focus on the here and now? We all can use destiny to fuel our born to do identities today. Godpreneur Rule #57: Godpreneurs don’t control destiny, they use it to fuel their ‘born to do’ identity today. #BusinessBibleStudy #FindMyCalling 3 Steps to Launching A God-Centered Business Instead of reading the blog posts, take the video course! - Hashtags for Brands Targeting Christian Entrepreneurs
For the last several months I’ve been building up my Instagram following for @dailygodpreneur. My goal was to connect with other like-minded Instagrammers. I wasn’t the savviest at using hashtags, but I quickly learned they are a great way to find others and be found. If you use Instagram like me, you’re a casual user that posts pictures of your family and activities. You’re not too into the hashtag world. But if we’re putting our time into creating services, products, or content that we want the world to see, then sharing that with hashtags is a great way to get the word out there. Most people use hashtags to simply add on more content to their descriptions such as: “My vacation was amazing” #ilovetotravel #iloveairplanes. {Jimmy Fallon did a great #hashtag skit} As business owners, we should want our content to be found by our target market and to find other like-minded communities. Sharing a well-used hashtag is the key. You can find several good articles in regards to the best and most frequented hashtags. But for me, my focused niche is Christian entrepreneurs wanting to grow in their relationship with Christ and bring God into their businesses. As I searched around Google, I realized there wasn’t much content about Christian entrepreneur hashtags to connect on Instagram, so I decided to come up with a resource for us. Try them out, find some new followers, and grow your community online! **DISCLAIMER** Sometimes spammers will find well-used hashtags to spread ads or worse, porn. Even something as simple as #love. So before using a very general hashtag, check it out before your follower's click. Also, if you’re a private person, you may not want to use hashtags. Remember using hashtags is a way for you to be FOUND by strangers. - The Guiding Principles and Behaviors of Millionaire Christian Entrepreneurs
"Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads." (Deuteronomy 11:18 NIV) Many bible verses stress the importance of memorizing scripture because when you say things out loud to yourself every single day, the thoughts slowly implant themselves in your way of thinking and you begin to exchange the way you used to think to a new way of thinking – God’s thoughts. So, if you want to think like a wealthy Millionaire, you have to begin to repeat verses to yourself that are Millionaire thoughts. The author of Secrets of the Millionaire Mind offers some like this: “I have a millionaire mind.” “My money works hard for me and earns more and more.” “I get rich doing what I love.” “I deserve to be rich because I add value to other people’s lives.” “I am a generous giver and excellent receiver.” These statements remind me of verses that I repeat to myself a lot like. “The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children.” (Psalms 115:14) “On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come, no collections will have to be made.” (1 Corinthians 16:2) “Carefully follow the terms of this covenant, so that you may prosper in everything you do.” (Deuteronomy 29:9) “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalms 24:1) “The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.” (Psalms 34:10) “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” (Deuteronomy 8:18) “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prosper.” (John 1:2) “Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.” (Proverbs 22:4) “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” (Proverbs 10:22) Of course, we can’t expect just to read, memorize, and repeat verses. "We must be doers of the Word." (James 1:22) We must launch that business idea, pursue that bigger contract, and go after our next growth opportunity by continuing to repeat our new money verses over and over. We also have to train ourselves to make better money decisions using our new statements. It’s in training and practicing that we’ll solidify our new mindset. For example, I’m a SPENDER. When I get money, I spend it. With money always being spent, it’s difficult to save. So I’ve memorized a statement that serves me in my particular faults: “I’m more excited about saving money than spending money.” And the bible says: “The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.”(Proverbs 21:20) This one has helped me make better buying decisions while browsing Amazon.com or visiting the Mall. It’s even helped me while negotiating new contracts. I’ve changed to FEEL excited about saving because of this one statement emotionally. Imagine if all of us Godpreneurs constantly affirmed our thoughts by taking concrete measures behind the verbal repetition so we can unlearn all the thinking patterns that were not serving us, and we began to act like the Kingdom royal inheritors that we are – Millionaires!. Godpreneur Rule: Godpreneurs memorize and repeat Bible verses that help us grow personally and in business. #BusinessBibleStudy #EnhanceFocus #BecomeDisciplined #GodpreneurAcademy Secrets of the Millionaire Mind A Christian entrepreneur’s book summary of the New York Times best-seller Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. - Help Millions to Make Millions
God wants to come into the Godpreneur’s business finances and powerfully and sometimes unexpectedly show up My company does branding. We come up with excellent stories, logos, and websites for our clients. The price of what I charge is subjective. I don’t really have a “set price,” but I have a ballpark figure that I usually throw out. One time I was going to pitch a client a $10,000 branding job and my partner convinced me to change it to $20,000. He didn’t want me to change anything in the proposal except the price. Same offer…double the amount. He told me to not put a limit on what God can provide, and I trusted him. By the time I arrived at the meeting, I had said: “The heck with it, I’ll double the $20,000 to $40,000.” After all, what did I have to lose? I settled at $30,000 with the client! Wow! I went from $10,000 to $30,000 because my partner had shared some fantastic wisdom with me. We do this as Godpreneurs sometimes. We expect too little. Well, guess what? We receive little. Most of us would have to give an honest answer that we put a limit on God. We don’t expect God to be present in our business all the time. We don’t expect God to have a plan for our life. We don’t always expect God to care about us. We don’t ever expect God to show up in our prayers. This limitation is why many of us remain broke, financially in debt, and living paycheck-to-paycheck. This limitation is why we’re not millionaires. See, rich people expect to have a lot of money, while the rest of us just wish we have enough for a secure a sufficient income. We just need to get through this pay period to pay the landlord and our vendors. We just need enough to make sure we make payroll. Sound familiar? Christian entrepreneur, you are chosen as a holy and royal child of the Highest God! You have the right to proclaim the excellencies of He who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9). This is our RIGHT as Christians! Listen, if we ask for just enough, God will give us just enough. God gives us what we ask for. But if we think big, like my business partner, asked me to, then you’re presenting a bigger jar for God to fill. Jesus said in Mark 11:23: Honestly, I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. What Jesus is saying is that there is no limit to what God can do in your life. If you limit God, you define how He can work in your finances. If God is God, then you should broaden your expectation of Him to show up in your life financially. It’s a hard lesson that you learn every time next month’s rent comes, and you’re barely making it. If you think back, there are times that you DID expect God to blow your mind radically, and He did! Maybe it was in your finances, or in other areas, but it’s already happened. It happened because you expected it. God wants to come in to the Godpreneur’s business finances in a firm manner, and sometimes even unexpectedly. He wants us to be rich in correlation to our expectations, and be 100% dependent on Him to provide. We need to expect that He will impact our bank accounts. We need to expect miracles to happen in our finances because we’re trusting, hard workers. The equation is simple for us Godpreneurs – – when we think big, we act big, which opens up more opportunities for us to make money. Small thinking means small money. Big thinking means big money. A friend of mine once told me “Alex, if you want to make a million dollars, you need to figure out how you can help a million people.” That statement profoundly made me change the way I thought of my potential customer base. Could I actually influence 1 million Christian entrepreneurs worldwide? If so, HOW?!? The HOW is what made me think about launching www.godpreneuracademy.com, a site where I want to equip Godpreneurs worldwide to be ministers in their marketplace. Since there’s no limit to the number of members I could have, I’ve lifted the restriction on my income, and I can consciously decide if I want to blow this thing up into a worldwide brand. The ball is in my court now. It’s in my expectations whether I’ll make it to a million members. A WARNING TO PROFESSIONAL SERVICE PEOPLE Remember how I told you that I do logos and websites? There’s a limit on the number of clients I can serve in a 24-hour period; therefore I have a limit on my income. Yes, I could charge more for my websites, but there will also be a limit to the amount I can charge (technically, someone could pay me 1 million dollars for a logo….it’s possible!). Realistically, I need to THINK BIGGER. I need to think about how I can deliver quality products that aren’t dependent on my time because quality has no limit. This is why I started teaching other branding people on how to launch businesses in just two days. I’ve changed from being the branding guy to teaching others. This is the kind of thought that will get me to one million dollars in sales in one year. For your business, you need to become the owner of a chain of your stores, or some other way you can duplicate yourself. If you don’t know how your business can be scaled to make a million dollars, you need to surround yourself with others who do know. As the author of “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” says “If you want to fly with the eagles, don’t swim with the ducks.” Godpreneur Rule: Think big to affect others with ambitious thinking, and figure out how to show millions of others how to take the steps necessary to be successful. #MakeMoreMoney #BusinessBibleStudy
