- The 3 Benefits of Mixing Faith and Entrepreneurship
How do faith and entrepreneurship mix? Christian or not, I'm sure every successful entrepreneur would say, "you gotta have faith in your product or service for it to succeed." However, is this the same type of faith we learn about in the Bible?Ā And how can we take our entrepreneurial faith walk more seriously so that we can reap the full benefits of a faith-filled mindset? I used to stress out about thinking of innovative ideas, launching new products, and attracting new clients. The stress would keep me up at night, stating at the ceiling, wondering if I'm good enough to succeed. This stress would take a toll on my relationships with everyone. My wife would see me working too much. My child would see me leaving home early and coming back late. My employees would hear from me less. And my relationship with God would take a lesser role. But over the last two years, I've been working on my FAITH walk. I'm not talking about my faith in Christianity. I'm talking about my faith that God will provide. Faith, as a Christian entrepreneur goes beyond our declaration that we believe in God, go to church and participate in Bible studies. Faith as an entrepreneur is 100% confidence that, when you're in your calling, God will provide.Ā Faith changes our language from "hoping" something will happen to expect it to happen. Faith is the gift that keeps on giving us business owners the fuel to keep on pursuing our purpose.Ā Since we're always taking risks by starting businesses, hiring new people, and launching new campaigns, faith-filled entrepreneurs don't hope their actions will deliver results; they KNOW God will provide. However, faith is also a hard mindset for us to understand and a challenge for us to take advantage of fully. We like results we can see, touch, and experience immediately. We like money in the bank that we can store up for a rainy day. But we're not sure how to manage a gift we can't take inventory of, yet we have an endless supply of it. The issue isn't if we have faith or not, the issue is that we miss it's deep significance and tremendous advantages in our business as we either ignore it or take it for granted.Ā Faith becomes an assumed quality of being Christian and starts to blend into the normal routine of our business day and we can no longer tell it's there. We have it as a card we pull out of our pocket only when circumstances call for it. A great source to go to when we want to understand faith more is the book of Hebrews.Ā Paul the Apostle wrote: "THE FUNDAMENTAL FACT OF EXISTENCE IS THAT THIS TRUST IN GOD, THIS FAITH, IS THE FIRM FOUNDATION UNDER EVERYTHING THAT MAKES LIFE WORTH LIVING. ITāS OUR HANDLE ON WHAT WE CANāT SEE. THE ACT OF FAITH IS WHAT DISTINGUISHED OUR ANCESTORS, SET THEM ABOVE THE CROWD." (HEBREWS 11:1ā-ā¬2 MSG) From an entrepreneurial point of view, there are three golden nuggets to pull out of this verse that you may have never realized. 1) It's not worth owning a business if you don't have faith. You'll be a big stress ball if you're always doubting yourself or second-guessing your actions. Faith is the fun in owning a business because you get to experience God's provision day in and day out. 2) Faith is your handle on what you can't see from your business plans. You can only hope for what you can't see and touch. On the other hand, faith turns entrepreneurial expectation intoĀ a surefire substance. āCan't seeā usually does not fit withĀ return on investment. However, faith makes it so. Faith turns Godās promises for your business into tangible realities. Faith turns things of the unseen spiritual world into visible things in the business world. 3) Faith is an action of obedience for God-first business owners. All the famous characters of the Bible did things out of faith, taking risks in stepping into the unknown. This should sound like entrepreneurship to you. Like they did for their ancestors, your choices in business will unlock the full benefit the gift of faith God has given you. Faith is what brings your visions to life and is the testimony to all that you trust God in being first in your business. As you make your leadership decisions, the outcomes of your faith are put into motion. As Christian entrepreneurs, faith is our most potent tool, our biggest ally, and our competitive advantage. We don't wait around for faith to show up, hoping that, maybe this time, God will come through. We've missed the opportunity of faith if we live under this false perception. Faith as a business owner is the hope of our entrepreneurial spirit. If we don't use it, then that's a choice we've made. No circumstance, situation, or setting should be able to affect our faith. Faith in action is merely choosing to run our businesses, knowing God's got us covered. If we've uncovered our calling, then bringing it to life and telling the whole world can be a faith-filled pilgrimage where our businesses serve to sanctify us and draw us closer to God. Imagine if all of us Godpreneurs chose to have the kind of faith that turns hopes and dreams into realities we can experience today. Put your action into faith in your business today! #GainConfidence

- 4 Steps to Eliminating Anxiety in Business, Godās Way
Thereās a pathway out of the valley of the anxiety and stress of entrepreneurship. God used the apostle Paul to sketch a map for us in this passage from Philippians 4:4-8. "Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." A business owner would be hard-pressed to find a passage more practical and applicable to the rollercoaster ride of entrepreneurship, wouldn't you agree? Paul lists some helpful ideas for winning the war on worry. If you want to move on from chaos into calm in your company, consider what Paul is saying. Step 1: Celebrate God's Goodness First, he says to celebrate God's goodness, to "rejoice in the Lord always." Mind you, he's writing this from a Roman jail with no money and the thought of execution looking likelier every day that passes. He's not just saying to rejoice in the Lord always, his point is: donāt meditate on the mess. The more you stare at the problems facing your business, the bigger the problems get. So when you have a problem and you're powerless over the circumstances, lift up your eyes and rejoice in the Lord. Rather than giving in to the anxiety, when you start to feel it, you lift up your eyes and rejoice in the Lord. Find some way to celebrate God's goodness - to see the glass half full in any business situation - and to be grateful for it. This is the counsel of the Psalmist that wrote: "I lift up my eyes on to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth." (Psalm 121:1) Do you see this intentionally in the words, "I will lift up my eyes?" This was the decision that the Psalmist made. This is the decision we entrepreneurs need to make when powerlessness shows its face. The apostle Peter is a testimony to this verse. You remember how when the storm struck the Sea of Galilee, he knew exactly what 10-foot waves could do to a fishing boat, and Peter cried out: āLord if it is really you, command me to come to you in the water,ā and Jesus said, ācome.ā Then Peter left the boat and walked towards Jesus, but when Peter saw the wind and the waves, he became afraid and he began to sink. As long as he kept his eyes on Jesus, he was able to do the impossible. But, when he saw the wind and the waves, he turned his gaze away from Christ and he began to sink. The next time you feel like you're sinking in your business, and maybe that's today for you, lift up your eyes, set your gaze on Christ, rejoice in the Lord, and rejoice in his sovereignty. Is God greater than your company problems? Has God faced this problem before? Does God have solutions you haven't even thought of? Has God taken you through these types of things before? Does God have a good track record? Is God strong? Is God sovereign? Is God still on the throne? Is He over everything else? Do you see how this is done? You're rejoicing in the Lord, youāre lifting your mind away from the business problems and youāre setting your mind on the one who can solve them. Don't meditate on the mess, instead, you rejoice. That's what it means to rejoice in the Lord. Step 2: Ask for God's Help The Apostle says having celebrated Godās goodness first, youāll then be ready to ask God for help. "Let your request be made known to God." You see, fear for entrepreneurs triggers either despair or prayer, so choose wisely. God said: "call on me on the day of trouble." (Psalm 50:15) Jesus said: "ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7) The entrepreneurial path free from anxiety and stress is always paved with prayer. Thatās why the devil doesnāt want you to pray. The path of peace is always paved with prayer. The enemy would love to shut down your ability to pray in faith. When you pray, and you take a promise of God, and you declare it over your business in whatever area, the Bible says to "believe you have received it" (Romans 10:17). Worry doesn't believe you received it. Anxiety doesn't believe you received it. Stress doesn't believe you received it. The enemy will attack your unbelief. The enemy wants your worry to start a domino effect into areas you've never even worried about before. It's crazy, all of the sudden you feel like your problems come in 3's. That's what's happening. It's a domino effect of worry. Cut it off through prayer and belief in the answer to that prayer. Prayer and anxiety go hand in hand because God wants you to pray, and walk away. Don't sit around waiting to see if God has come through or not. That's not how it was designed. That would defeat the purpose of prayer. You'd still be stressed out and anxious if you had to wait around checking in every 5 minutes if God answered your prayer. No. You walk away, stress-free, anxiety-free, confident that God is going to answer the prayer, leaving you to continue running your business! You'll see new ideas and fresh perspectives - the very creativity God might use to answer the prayer. Step 3: Practice Gratitude And with anxiety now gone from your mind, you can now replace it with gratitude. The apostle says, āin everything, by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving!ā Anxiety and gratitude can't share the same heart inside of an entrepreneur. The next time you're anxious, begin to make a list of things for which youāre grateful. Your anxiety will begin to fade as you write because anxiety and gratitude refuse to share the same heart. Step 4: Meditate on Good Things Celebrate God's goodness in your business, leave your strategic concerns with Him, fill your heart with gratitude along your entrepreneurial journey, and lastly, meditate on good things all along the way. As a financial provider to your family and employees, it's easy to let anxious negative thoughts in business take over your mind. Listen, you can't control your circumstances, but you can control how you think about them. Peace comes from a stream of thought patterns. It's a mindset. You can be a Christian business owner, born again and on your way to heaven, yet still have no peace. Why? Because of what youāre thinking, because of what youāre meditating on, because of what you're dwelling on, because of what youāre focusing on. You're fixated on whatās going through your ear, whatās going on in your head, in between your ears. Listen, this is why so many Christian entrepreneurs fail - it's because they're stressed and anxious over a situation for which Jesus has already given the victory. For example, if God promised that big contract, and you think about the fact that my God says "He shall supply all my needs according to his riches and glory," then your mind is constantly on the fact that God will supply you. Rich or poor, contract or no contract, the freedom from anxiety doesn't come from the situation or its outcome, the freedom from stress comes from our ability to keep our minds thinking victorious thoughts about what God said in His word and your confidence that He would do it because Heās done everything else that He said He would do. So, the next time that anxiety awakens you at 2:30 in the morning, would you believe what Iām suggesting to you? I'm simply saying that it's not Godās will that you lead an entrepreneurial life of perpetual anxiety. Your Heavenly Father will help you in your business endeavors. - How Married Entrepreneurs Should Deal With Their Problems
Iām a competitive kinda guy that played sports my whole life. Thatās why when I found CrossFit, I was immediately drawn into the sport. CrossFit is a crosstraining workout mixed with weightlifting and gymnastics. I often leave the workouts sore for days, muscles in pain, hands full of calluses, and exhausted. And even though I curse at the brutal workouts sometimes, I go back for moreā¦and moreā¦since 2010! I look at CrossFit as the adversary inside of my mind that I have to defeat. Every time I add weight to my lifts, I see it as a new challenge I must overcome. I see CrossFit as the place where I work on breaking physical barriers and challenges so I can rise to new levels. Our businesses and marriages are like CrossFit. There are challenges weāll need to overcome. New, often difficult circumstances will be presented to us, and we either step up to fight, or we walk away and do nothing. Sadly, too often, weāre so exhausted from running the business that we donāt have the energy to fight in the marriage or vice versa. Fear then begins to set in our hearts and paralyzes us. We donāt know what to do so we react in our natural defensive mechanisms. How should Godpreneurs react when difficulties in our marriage and business come our way? Will we start to fear or will we look at the challenge dead in the eye and attack it knowing we have Godās Word? As Godpreneurs, we have to trust God no matter how challenging our business and marriage gets. We have to fear nothing or nobody. The bible says When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praiseā in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?(Psalms 56:3ā-ā¬4 NIV) When business and marriage present a challenge, you need to REJOICE! Yes, sounds crazy, I know! But it works! God wants you to rejoice in your challenges because Godās in control and He promises to finish what He started in your business and marriage. James 1:2-4 NIV says "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything". You need to count your business and marriage challenges as joy because God is up to something! Thereās a certain CrossFit workout that I absolutely HATE! Itās a terrible workout, and every time they announced it, I cringed and sometimes wouldnāt show up that day (I would call it my off dayā¦). But once I learned what Iām teaching you now, I changed my mind set on that and many of the other challenging workouts. I now REJOICE when I see that workout on the board. I say fake it till you make it š Now Iām getting better at that workout! Iām serious. We Godprenuers can REJOICE that God is working on our behalf in our businesses and marriages, and Heāll do it as fast as our mindsets can change! God says your challenges are done! Read Ezekiel 12:28 KJV. It reminds us, married entrepreneurs, āThere shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord God.ā There is no reason to be concerned or worried about our business and marriage because God is in control. Imagine a world of Godpreneurs that walked up to our business workouts stood up to those challenging weights in marriage and greeted the obstacles with a smile and positive attitude knowing God promises to fight those battles on our behalf.
