  • Reprogramming Your Mind to Build Wealth In Your Business

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Normally, this Bible verse is used to help new mothers and fathers understand their role as parents. In this case, I’m showing it to you to reinforce the fact that YOU were trained as a child the way you should go with your finances, and you’re not departing from it because that’s how God designed us. What if we were trained WRONG? Then we have some UNTRAINING to do. Unfortunately, for the 80% of the world that lives paycheck to paycheck, you’re not able to get out of the pattern you’re in because you were taught from a very young age to invoke wrong money thoughts and habits. Whether you have thousands, millions, billions, your income hardly ends up deviating from the levels that were set for you in your childhood. Why? Because your mind regulates your money habits like a thermostat. If your thermostat is set too low, as soon as you get your hands on some extra cash, you throw your money around. But, if your thermostat is set on high, that is, on wealth, you immediately offset a money shortage by saving and usually make sure your wealth grows. The sad reality is that most Godpreneurs are programmed from childhood to earn a low income, which means we all have the potential to be trusted with a lot of money – but very few of us manage to keep the money and accumulate lasting wealth. In contrast, billionaires (Christian or not) may lose unspeakable quantities of money at times, but they always regain their wealth because they think like billionaires. Godpreneur Rule: Godpreneurs learn to disregard our old thought patterns and overwrite them with Kingdom thinking. #MakeMoreMoney #BusinessBibleStudy Secrets of the Millionaire Mind A Christian entrepreneur’s book summary of the New York Times best-seller Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. • Mountain Biking is like Owning a Business

I went mountain biking the other day with my son and his Boy Scout troop. Let me tell you, mountain biking is dangerous and challenging! What I like about mountain biking is that there is ONE entrance, but the choices you make along this one path are endless. At many points you’re confronted with forks in the road and new decisions on weather to turn left or right. God’s vision for your entrepreneurial life is the same way. At some point you discover that vision and decide to start riding along that one path. But choices will come up. Opportunities to go in new directions will arise. Distractions will also happen. You’ll fall a couple of times, you’ll have to stop because you’re tired. You’ll even have opportunities to just quit and take the road back to the exit….contemplating weather to ever do this again…. You can’t go backwards, there’s a WRONG WAY sign if you even try. You have to keep going forward. So how do you know what the right decisions to take are? Paul’s prayer for the Philippians is my prayer to you entrepreneurs. In Philippians 1:9-10 we read “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ…” Once you have the vision, once you know your purpose as a business owner, God wants you to abound in knowledge and insight and be pure and blameless, making decisions that reflect God’s entrepreneurial vision for your life. That’s how God helps you reach your goals! Like on a mountain biking trail, God gives you choices and opportunities to learn from hands-on experience. Good decision making isn’t learned overnight. You may make some poor choices along the trail before you will know how to make good ones for the next run. And when you’re pursuing your God given entrepreneurial vision, God won’t give you just any choice because He will only give choices He is willing for you to make. But the opportunities to give you significant business choices are endless….like on a day of mountain biking. God will first give you small decisions, then bigger ones as you move along the path. As long as you are guided by God, you’ll be give many opportunities to make lots of appropriate choices gain knowledge, insight, and discernment….and improve your biking skills Enjoy the ride, its a learning process all along the way. Godpreneur Rule #59: A great brand has discovered God’s vision, then stays on that path. #GainConfidence #StrengthenIntegrity #LaunchingMyBusiness

  • Wisdom Wednesdays – Godpreneur’s Guide to Getting Rich

My wife and I fight about money all the time. But not the fighting over paying bills and wondering how we’ll make rent. Our fighting is over the MINDSET of money. See, my wife grew up under the teachings of “money is the root of all evil”.  So wealth doesn’t have a positive affirmation behind it, therefore any talk about wealth, success or abundance turns her off. I’m the opposite. I’ve come to know abundance as a positive gift from God that He wants to bless me with….if I work diligently towards it. Yes, the bible says that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.  But notice how this time I threw in the word LOVE.  See the difference? If we think about it, money is simply an exchange of your gifts and talents for a piece of currency that is good to buy other gifts and talents from other people. God approves of your making money, and he would like you to build wealth for your family’s needs, for community investment, and for generosity in spreading the gospel. Making money means you’re not on your butt doing nothing.  If money is the exchange of gifts and talents, then making money (and lots of it) is the exchange of a lot of gifts and talents. Don’t want to make money?  Do what a lot of people do.  Be lazy. But just know that, “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth” (Proverbs 10:4). My wife isn’t a Godpreneur, but she’s married to one whether she likes it or not. #MarriedEntrepreneurs #FindMyCalling #WheretoStartFirst

  • Avoid The Income Strategies of Your Parents

"Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” (Matthew 15:14 ESV) The experiences you had growing up are essential for your first steps in owning a business and dealing with the profits because you’ve studied your parents’ behavior precisely and saved them in your subconscious. When you start earning money in your business, you’ll imitate the income patterns of your parents without discerning it. I, myself, had steadily emulated this pattern of spending and financial mismanagement in my early business endeavors- -without understanding the root of my failure! God designed us to be creatures of habit, and when we’ve learned something, it’s not easy to unlearn it. We can only break away from our parental thought structures later, by making ourselves aware of them and consciously flipping the switch by filling ourselves with new, Godly beliefs. Godpreneur Rule: Godpreneurs are conscious about spending money with a Godly perspective. #BusinessBibleStudy #WorkLifeBalance #FindingMyPurpose Secrets of the Millionaire Mind A Christian entrepreneur’s book summary of the New York Times best-seller Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. • Becoming a Godpreneur – Part 5: Staying Connected

I started writing my blog daily in 2014. For years, I felt that these writings weren’t meant to be a ‘business’ but instead a time for me to draw closer to God, stay connected to Him, and grow as a Godpreneur. I’ve had visions from day 1 of turning this into an amazing brand for devotionals, workshops, books, DVDs, speaking tours, advertisements on my website, and all that cool stuff that ‘authorities’ in their field do. But I didn’t feel the timing was right. Again, I felt God saying that this was a time of connecting. We entrepreneurs get these visions and our natural instinct is to bring that vision to life right away. I know, I’ve done it myself! We skip over that business planning side of things. We shoot first and ask questions later. We release products without surveying if our clients even want it. We go off our…vision. I’ve been in the logo and website making world since 2001. I’ve had hundreds of entrepreneurs come to me wanting to start businesses TOMORROW without a plan, without really thinking about it all the way through. Yes, there are times that we do too much thinking and it’s time to act. I also believe that as you connect more with God, things begin to happen faster. The Bible says: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5 NIV God knows how to start businesses and make them grow. He just needs somebody to step up to the plate and wait for the right pitch. A vision from God isn’t dependent on us making something happen. Seeds get planted, but God makes those seeds grow. Growth of a vision is dependent on God making something happen. Your temptation is to do something, to act NOW, to get in the driver’s seat and make this bad boy run!  But you’re on your own, and you’re likely to foul things up. We need to keep in mind that God’s work, done in God’s way, in God’s time, is always successful. And it comes off in such a way as to point back towards the source: God.
