  • How to Be Satisfied, Even If You're Not There Yet

Ever feel like it's never enough? Like no matter how big the client or number of employees, you're never satisfied with your business? The bigger problem might be that we're replacing Godly satisfaction with cheap earthly offerings. We have to learn to become satisfied TODAY or we will live lives of daily regret and discontentment. How can we do this? Morning time with God is especially important for us ambitious entrepreneurs because it's where we hone in on the skill of setting aside what is fleeting, and spending time to be transformed by the eternal. “BECAUSE OF THE LORD’S GREAT LOVE WE ARE NOT CONSUMED,FOR HIS COMPASSIONS NEVER FAIL. THEY ARE NEW EVERY MORNING; GREAT IS YOUR FAITHFULNESS”. (LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23) Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His lovingkindness is all we need. Let's surrender our desire for worldly attention to center on God because He is sufficient! That's what God is working on ME on right now. Anyone else going through this too?. #ArticulatingMyIdeas #WheretoStartFirst

  • Moving Forward Ambitiously, God’s Way

As Christian, is it possible to have fame and fortune, yet still, be rooted in Christ? Can I be the exception to the rule that “its hard for a rich man to get into heaven?” I struggled with this because I wouldn’t mind being rich and famous, but I don’t want to miss out on heaven! So, what does PROPER AMBITION actually look like? Yes, rich business owners go to heaven all the time. The issue isn’t how much money we have, the test comes to where our heart is at. Yesterday I talked about improper ambition and using my work as a means of making a name for myself. When the Babylonians tried to build their fame and fortune, God “scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city” (Genesis 11:8). To God, the motives behind my ambition obviously matter a great deal. The bible says: Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. Colossians 3:23 NIV 1 Corinthian also echoes how our ambitions should be set: So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 NIV Imagine a marketplace where people aren’t out for themselves and not using their creations to glorify themselves, but instead, they are laying their creations down as an offering of worship to God. Godpreneurs are called to be ambitious, to work hard, and to be good stewards of the talents God has given us. But we are called to own businesses, not for our own glory, but to “do it all for the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). When our entrepreneurship is motivated by a desire to glorify God, serve others, and create products and services laid down as an offering to God, then we have the proper ambition to create with everything we’ve got. #StrengthenIntegrity #EnhanceFocus

  • You Can’t Do Business Alone – Here’s How to Find a Partner

I used to think that entrepreneurship was this glorious career with awesome partnerships and great teams of people working together for something awesome. But this isn’t how it panned out for me. Entrepreneurship was incredibly lonely, especially at the beginning of starting something. Owning a business was lonely for me because I out-worked everyone I partnered with, so I found myself doing more work than I bargained for. I also felt lonely because friends were making more money than me, and here I was playing catchup in the back. This rat race left me working tireless hours, alone, with all my attention on the business. Often, this feeling of being alone has stifled my creativity and sucked all the energy out of me, to the point where I pause my calling or quit on the vision altogether. We all have this calling over our business to bring something remarkable to the marketplace, but for some of us, the thought of going at it alone is just too much to move forward with. Others of us may feel alone in our thoughts because we’ve asked for help and haven’t received it, or we’ve thrown our idea out to others, and nobody is responding the way we expected. We could also feel alone because we don’t want to share our ideas with others because we think of them as competition and they’ll steal the idea. The enemy wants to use this feeling of loneliness and seclusion to kill our calling. But God didn’t design entrepreneurship to be a lonely experience. We’re called to fellowship with one another. There’s a group of Christians God has put around us to bounce ideas off of, get encouragement, accountability, prayer, and support. By design, through our unity in Jesus, we were given to each other to accomplish the work God has set out for each of us individually. We’re not as alone as we may think we are. The Bible says: For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. (Romans 12:4‭-‬8 NIV) God designed entrepreneurs within one body – one family – to break bread together, to share ideas with, support each other’s businesses, and serve each other with our callings. Are you in regular fellowship with the Christian entrepreneurs in your church family? Do you have a support group or mastermind of business owners that meet regularly? If not, this could be the reason why you might be feeling lonely in your calling. Your church family is a great place to break bread with other entrepreneurs. You can also form our crew of God-first business owners to meet with periodically. (Visit www.godfirstmeetups.biz to learn how to form your group with my free resources) If you find yourself thinking thoughts or competition or comparing your success with others, this will only cause you to retreat even more and isolate yourself into this state of loneliness. Instead, recognize that God set the example through Jesus and his disciples of comforting one another and encouraging and building each other up. Jesus designed Godpreneurial families to complete each other, not to compete with each other. We are one in Christ and one powerful body of innovation and hope in our marketplaces. Our calling becomes Spirit-empowered when we bring it in fellowship with the spirit of other Christian entrepreneurs. Imagine if all around the world, we saw the family of God working together to create products and services that move society forward, solve big problems, and better equip us to thrive here while we wait to be called into our next life. Together (not alone), we can intentionally be praying, sacrificing, giving, serving, teaching, and preaching trough our brands so we can fulfill the Great Commission in our respective marketplaces. Together (not alone), we can host conferences, interview each other for podcasts, collaborate on courses, a joint venture on products and services, co-author books, blog to each other, and create a movement. We’re not alone when, together, we further God’s Kingdom and glory through our calling to GODpreneurship. Let’s defeat the enemy of loneliness by purposing to break bread with other Godpreneurs as we lovingly encourage, support, and serve each other through masterminds, meetups, and church gatherings. Together, we can defeat the enemy that wants to kill our calling by fulfilling God’s desire for us to Unite to shine His light brighter in the world. I pray that you find (or create) a Godpreneur family near you to share your abilities and calling! • Entrepreneurs #1 Priority Every Day

The other day my wife and I went to the grocery store. She was hungry, I wasn’t. I think you know where I’m going with this. All diets, dietitians, and nutritionists say that you should NEVER go to the grocery store when you’re hungry. Makes sense. When I go to the store hungry, I stock up on Star Crunch and Funyuns. But when I’m in a clear state of mind due to not being hungry, I can make better decisions on what to fuel my body with. Is it possible that in an effort to be the best entrepreneur we can be, we sometimes neglect our own spiritual growth? When the demands of our business require us to be on the go from dawn until late at night, we may be tempted to sacrifice our quiet time, prayer, or other spiritual disciplines. The Bible says: “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers” (Acts 20:28 NIV). Notice he warned them first to keep watch over themselves; then their flock. What a valuable lesson for us as business owners. You will have a hard time leading and giving of yourself to anyone from an empty spiritual “cup.” Even Jesus had to take time away from the crowds and His disciples to talk to the Father. Your relationship with God is your first priority, you are in a better position to serve your family, friends, and business. When we forget to give God the best of our day, we may begin to see issues like anger, bitterness, resentment, and moral dilemmas arise in our office, in meetings, and around clients and vendors. We are not doing our business any favors when we are spiritually exhausted. #BecomeDisciplined #StrengthenIntegrity

  • Are You In Business Because of Someone Else’s Dream?

When I was a kid, I wanted to own my own business. My dad wanted me to get a ‘real career’. Maybe I’d become a lawyer?. So I entered Cornell as a pre-law student. The first year killed me! I hated it. So I switched to what I wanted to do, business. And school became a joy. Sometimes we’re doing things to please other people, conform to culture and society, or worst of all, for money!! That’s the worst. What I’ve come to discover after meeting with thousands of entrepreneurs and running my own business is that we have to do a deep discovery into our purpose on this earth in order to be in the right business. The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” God already knows what we’re supposed to do, and life is a journey of drawing closer to God so He reveals that great purpose and then carries you from season to season in your life, directing what you should do next. Are you starting a business someone else wants for you? Before you jump to a “no!” reaction, reflect deeply on this question. Most entrepreneurs are unconscious about what influences have directed their business choices to date. Look, your parents, siblings, wife, friends, and business partners want that life for you for one of two reasons: They want the best for you (from THEIR perspective) They want the best for themselves (how what you do reflects on THEM). So, what do you do? You need to, first, become aware that this is the case. You may need to pray and meditate about this for some time. But don’t get frustrated and start blaming them for lost years. This is on you. You were the one that didn’t ask the important question of ‘what on earth am I here for?’. Understand their intent and perspective but don’t fault them for it. Now that you’re in total awareness, you can look inside to plan out the changes you need to make in order to get on your path. What if everyone in the world was living the purpose God intended for them? That’s my life mission!! What’s yours? Comment with your life purpose below. #ShareYourTestimony #FindingMyPurpose

  • What If Your Terrible Marriage and Sinking Business Just Need This

I’ve read research that says it takes anywhere between six to eight touches in sales before a prospect will become interested in a product or service. This means that in my marketing, I can’t count on the first email to make the sale. I need a persistent and consistent flow of touches going out to see a result potentially. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve sometime quit too soon because I didn’t see any results. I ignored the “6 – 8 touches” rule, squashed the campaign, chucked it as a loss, and moved on to something new. I get impatient, I want to see results, and I figure if it’s not producing right away, it wasn’t meant to be. But what if I was just one more touch away from the floodgates opening up? What if just one more email would have tipped the entire campaign in my favor? We can do this sometimes in our business and marriage. When things look bad, divorce is knocking, the bills are piling up, the marriage retreat didn’t work, or the product launch didn’t produce the results we wanted, we throw in the towel and call it quits. What if we’re just one touch away? We entrepreneurs want to see the fruits right away. We want to plant the seeds and cash in on the crops ASAP! But are we willing to be persistent and keep praying even though we’re in a drought and the situation looks dead around us? Just because it looks like God isn’t moving in our business and marriage, doesn’t mean He isn’t up to something. The Bible says: “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked. “There is nothing there,” he said. Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.” The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’ ” (1 Kings 18:43‭-‬44 NIV) I love this story of persistence, faith, and hope. Elijah believed God was going to come through and end the drought. He kept praying and sending his men back to check to see if there were any rain clouds. His people must have thought he was nuts! We can learn a lot from Elijah, especially if we’re looking for breakthroughs in our business and marriage. Elijah learned to be completely dependent on God, he prayed boldly for God-sized miracles, and he prayed fervently until God came through. Like Elijah, you need to need to be crazy in your persistence and prayers. If you want to see the breakthroughs in your business and marriage, you have to pray for life into your dead situations, trust God, and keep praying again and again. You have to trust God will stay faithful to His promise that God wants to do big things through your business and marriage! Don’t take “no” for an answer. I’ve been taught in sales that “no” really means “not right now.” I like that attitude because it sets my mind on hope in a future sale. God’s looking around for the faithful and hopeful. Miracles, good luck, and favor seem always to follow those who are hopeful. Coincidence? I don’t think so. I think they are simply following God’s universal law of persistently praying that God will come through with His promises. We all had given up too easily in the past when our spouses said “no,” when the contact didn’t go through, or when we’re having a bad day. Here are 3 action keys to remember when situations look dead in our business and marriage. He’s shown us in the bible (memorize Bible verses) He’s done it for you in the past (remember past victories), and although we may not see progress, He’s arranging things around our business and marriage for our favor (have faith and trust He’s working). Godpreneur, whatever area we gave up on in our business and marriage is just ONE TOUCH away from victory. Remember the 6-8 touch rule not only for making sales but now also for experiencing breakthroughs in our lives. • Grace for Your Business Vision - How to Restart after Giving Up?

When God created us, entrepreneurs, He put a dream in our hearts. Most of us start our businesses off with that dream. We have some kind of dream, plan, or project that we want to do with our business life, our vision. I’ve read comments and talked to hundreds of Godpreneurs over the years, and I discovered while everybody tends to start early in business with a vision, as days and months and years go by, people give up on the dream before it’s accomplished. Most people give up on their business vision and goals because it doesn’t happen fast enough. Some of you have had your dream battered or bruised. Some of you have had your dream broken, and out of discouragement and disappointment, you have buried your entrepreneurial dreams. You’ve given up. But God doesn't want you to do that. The Bible says For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay. (Habakkuk 2:3 ESV) If God gave you that dream for your business life, it's going to happen in His timetable, not in yours. He has a will for your business life from the beginning to the end. He knows your past; He knows why you’re where you are, and he is willing to help still. He is going to pick you up right where you are, and He’ll give your company a whole new beginning. That’s what grace in business is all about! Are there second chances in business? We have a second, a third, a fourth, a fifth
I mean, praise God that we can keep on launching and relaunching! He doesn’t just cut us off because we missed it somewhere. God has a plan for your business life. That plan is fantastic, it’s perfect, and it’s perfectly suited for you! Whoever you are, wherever you are, whatever is going on in your bank account, His business plan is the best. It brings him glory and honor and is fulfilling to you and me. Now get up and go! #WheretoStartFirst #GainConfidence

When we develop the habit of praying for each new month, we will never be victims of our circumstances

  • You’re in the Right Place

I’ll admit that I live with a restlessness that cripples me with fear, anxiety, and frustration. You’re not going to believe me when I tell you what’s killing me
Here we go – what’s killing me is that I feel that at times I’m not living out my purpose. I feel like there’s so much more for me to do. I wrestle with so many books I want to write and courses I want to teach that it paralyzes me. From the outside looking in, I realize that I’m accomplishing a lot, pushing God’s agenda forward, and making progress on many fronts in my business. But I’m human, and different fears loom over me still. We all have fears that hold us back from reaching our full potential. We know a lot about our businesses, we even know our mission and many of us know our purpose. We know we’re supposed to be in the will of God at all times. But knowing it and actually feeling it fully are two different things. Many of us think that if we change our business model, switch industries, jump ship to another client or close up shop and open up a new business in a different place, we’ll FEEL that purpose we’re seeking. The truth is most of us have enough opportunity right in front of us. It’s not the place that needs to change. It’s our perspective that needs adjustment. The place where God has us both right now is significant, even if you’re struggling to find clients or dealing with a terrible employee. God’s placed us here and has a very important mission for us. The Bible says: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you". Matthew 6:33 Maybe you’re exactly where God wants you to be, but you’re still seeking to please men or yourself. When you’re seeking to please God, all fear goes away because you’re in His will. When you seek to please others or yourself, you open the door to doubt, frustration, fear of rejection, thoughts that your business doesn’t matter, that where you’re at right now isn’t significant and that you won’t succeed. We Godpreneurs can’t let fear distract us from living a life in God’s full will. He needs us in order to impact the business world. He needs our minds and hearts in the right places: focused on the marketplace mission field He has us on right now, no matter how insignificant we may think it is. What makes you afraid of where you’re at right now? How can you be more intentional in your current situation? #EnhanceFocus

  • How Godpreneurs Wait: Part 6 – Uncovering Your Entrepreneurial Calling

Here are four steps to help you uncover it: Develop the desire to know God better. I personally teach you the method.

  • How to Be ‘Anxious for Nothing’ In Your Business

It’s 3 in the morning and you can't sleep. You toss and turn, rolling from one side to the other; nothing helps. Everyone else is sleeping, but not you. It's now 3:30 am and you're staring at the ceiling. Your anxiety has taken complete control. The clock on the wall keeps ticking; you cover your head with the pillow to not hear it. You feel like crying. You're depressed, alone, scared, and stressed. What a mess you and your business plans are in. What does all this anxiety mean to a business owner? All this trepidation, all this insecurity, all this worry, all this restlessness. What's the meaning of it all? Well, anxiety in business means simply this: YOU ARE AN ENTREPRENEUR đŸ’Ș You’re not dumb, you’re not emotionally underdeveloped, you’re not incompetent or too green to own a business, your parents didn’t fail you; it doesn’t mean you failed them, and, this is important, it does not mean you are not a Christian. Christian entrepreneurs battle anxiety. Jesus did. In the garden of Gethsemane, on the night before his crucifixion, He prayed for the cup of suffering to be taken away from Him. In fact, He prayed with such ferocity, the capillaries burst and rivulets of crimson rolled down His face. Jesus battled anxiety. He faced fears, but He fought through His fears, surrendered them to God, and fulfilled his mission. Anxiety did not win, and this is God's plan for you too! The Bible says: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6) Anxiety comes with entrepreneurship but it doesn’t have to dominate your business life. God's plan for you is not an entrepreneurial journey that is drenched in anxiety. It's God's will that you and I learn to run an operation that is characterized by peace and not panic; by calmness and not chaos. Yeah but Alex, I'm drowning in my business - like I’m still showing up, but barely keeping it together. I’m making it, and I’m smiling, but nobody knows what’s really behind this smile - the things I think about some days on my way home. I just want to run away from it all. I want to suggest something to you Godpreneurs today about the storms of anxiety in your business life, and about the waves and the winds that are tossing you and your plans around. Listen, those winds will keep blowing, and the waves will break and they will crush you, no doubt about it. However, you have a choice of who accompanies you through those storms. Will you invite misery or God? Will you invite death or life? Will you invite loneliness or the God that will never leave you or forsake you? There are things happening in your business that you’re afraid of that makes no sense if you're truly inviting God to walk this entrepreneurial journey with you. There are people that are causing you to shut down. There are circumstances that are senselessly paralyzing you. However, when you put those things in the context of who the God is that is walking by your side, and what you mean to Him, you begin to train your heart to be anxious for nothing.

  • Prayer for Discovering Your Purpose in Entrepreneurship

Are you struggling to see clearly and make decisions in your business? It could be because you can’t understand or see God's purpose or plan for you and your entrepreneurial walk. First, we have to choose to believe that God does have a plan, and it's a plan that He expects us to discover and walk-in. The Bible says “I cry out to God Most High, to God who fulfills his purpose for me.” (Psalms 57:2 ESV) By design, God set up prayer in supplication as the key to understanding God’s plans. God has numbered the days of your business and will fulfill every purpose He has for you. Imagine if we all earnestly and dependently looked to God alone for the power and possibility of the future of our businesses. Start by praying this prayer for understanding God's purpose and plans for your entrepreneurial walk. **** BEGIN PRAYER **** Father God, I confess it's been difficult to fully let go of my anxieties as an entrepreneur and in my business when I can’t see evidence of all that you’re doing – when I can’t understand or see your purpose or plan - what I was born to do. Today, I pause and remind myself of my dependency on you. I know in my heart that my circumstances and plans are touched by your hands. Isaiah 55:8 reminds me that my thoughts are not your thoughts – and that my ways in business are not your ways. When I am struggling to see my calling clearly and decide which direction I should take, I'm not alone, and that inner peace is something only you can supply. So today, Lord, I purposefully, even urgently, say again that I choose to believe in you and that through the Holy Spirit, I will be revealed what I was born to do in business. I know that it’s often in the most cloudy, confusing, and challenging times you are most at work. Thank you for being the one who gives me the strength to help and serve others in the marketplace and to see distinctly the choices I face. As I scan my horizons, I know that I also must look to you alone for the power and possibility that is the future of my business. I ask for your guidance so that I might pilgrimage fully in your entrepreneurial path – a path that you have blessed. I also ask for your face to shine on me – individually and on my team and partners. Please bring to fulfillment all that you have given me to do in the weeks, months, and years ahead. Give me a heart of wisdom to hear your voice, and then make my footsteps firm. Please make me strong through your favor and grace. #TrustOnGod #PrayForYourBusiness
