Overcoming Work Addiction: Step 6 – New Perspective

Recognizing easy things we turn to at work to soothe our work addiction is easy. Uncovering behavioral addiction objects (like snapping at employees or manipulating clients) can be a bit trickier. Knowing that God wants to take us through it, that's amazing!

Overcoming Work Addiction: Step 5 – Kill the Triggers

We often don't rank work addiction as "bad" because we see people overdose on heroin and thing "well, at least I'm not shooting up, instead I'm working more." The only problem is that God sees all addictions the same: competition to Him and imposter solutions for something He can only truly provide.

Overcoming Work Addiction: Step 4 – Dig Deep

You are a Godpreneur. You are made in God’s image. Because of this, you must deal with whatever stresses you in the way that God, your designer and CEO, has made you to, rather than allowing your stresses to lead you to addictions. God has built you in a way such that your ultimate happiness and relief can only be found in Him. All other solutions are temporary, and in many cases you will be worse off than when we started (like me...I got into more debt).

Overcoming Work Addiction: Step 3 – Call It Out

Work addiction is pursuing our business more than God in a repetitive, habitual, or patterned way to get our needs met and bring us comfort, even though it’s harmful to us. . Now that we are aware of the idol of entrepreneurship, we can begin the work needed to destroy the idol and put it in it's right place in our minds.

Overcoming Work Addiction: Step 2 – Know the Signs

If we entrepreneurs don't watch out, we can easily convince ourselves that working more hours is necessary to bring more money home for vacations...And that going to the gym is needed for our health.  But if we're not vigilant to the signs, we could easily fall into the same trap I fell in...They really became addictions.

Overcoming Work Addiction: Step 1 – Become Aware

We entrepreneurs all have addictions.  Most of us are addicted to coffee or some kind of stimulant to keep us full throttle. . We want to be on full throttle because we have a lot of things we feel we need to accomplish and not enough time in the day. . But if we don't put God first in our life, our addictions can overcome us and destroy our plans.

Losers Focus on Winners.  Winners Focus on Winning.

Godpreneurs know what they were born to do and only do that.

What Goes Around Does NOT Come Around – Surprise!

It's important, Godpreneurs, to realize that you can't be perfect. There's good news for all of us trying so hard to not make mistakes: we don't need to make less mistakes, we need to be more like Jesus!
