Spiritual Disconnection Can Kill your Business – Here’s How

Updated: May 30, 2021

I can’t express how much I depend on my morning time with God. Since developing the habit of reading the Bible daily and journaling my thoughts, I’ve created a mechanism that’s brought my mind peace and given me direction for my business.

Almost every time I’ve had a bad day, I can say that morning I didn’t do my devotional. It’s not surprising, of course, that when I snap at someone or something is off with my feelings, it’s also likely that I’m a little disconnected from the Spirit.

As Godpreneurs, we’re called to bear the loving fruit of God. Loving our clients, employees, and vendors and loving God is the greatest commandment. When we’re full of this love, we reveal God’s nature through our management style, our products, and our services, which in turn, glorifies Him in the world.

However, the origin of this love comes from our connection to God. If we’re starved of this love, then anything we do in business is going to be affected by this lack of connection to God.

If we’re feeling spiritually depleted, then it will be tough for us to be in our calling.

The bible says:

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. (Galatians 5:16‭-‬18 NIV)

Maybe the reason you do not see the calling so clearly is that you’re not connecting with God as you should be.

Maybe the reason you’ve strayed away from your calling is that you’re not spending time with God like you used to.

The solution is simple. You need to spend more time with Jesus. You have to develop the habit of spending time with God every MORNING (Not at night, once the day is already gone, and you’ve previously interacted with everyone.)

Finding your calling AND staying in it will all depend on the quality of your daily connecting and dependency on the Holy Spirit.

When I first started my Daily Godpreneur movement, it came about because I started developing this morning habit of daily bible reading. At first, I had to force myself to do it. But when I started seeing the bible as a business self-help book, I began to look forward to my morning time.

Since I knew other entrepreneurs struggled with spending time with God in the mornings, I started my daily devotional for Christian entrepreneurs. Subscribe at www.dailygodpreneur.com/subscribe. It will help you develop the habit like it has for thousands of others.

Is your love for your clients or employees going away, gone, or never even found?

Do you find your self-ish-ness for fortune or fame standing out more than your self-less-ness?

Are you noticing your criticism choking out your compassion?

Are you just filling time with your agenda?

All of this will leave you feeling empty and dried up. This will kill your calling.

These are signs that you’re spiritually depleted. You’re just disconnected from depending on Jesus.

We Godpreneurs are first called to Christ. Before our entrepreneurial calling, our first calling is to walk with Christ. That’s why if we’re feeling spiritually depleted, things are going to go wrong and our ability to focus and stay in our calling will be threatened.

All of us Godpreneurs have been there and done that—too many times. But it’s time we all wise up and fill up on the spiritual juice we need to pursue our calling. It’s time we all live worthy of the calling in business we have received.

We are called to be a reflection of Jesus every day in our businesses. We need to use every moment to draw a closer connection to God by simply talking to Him daily. And when we’re the daily Godpreneur God wants us to be, the opportunities we desire will be shown to us as we’ll begin to feel and reflect the calling we need to move forward with.

Let me pray for you!

Lord God, I pray that Godpreneurs truly want You. I pray that they want to know You more, and develop the daily devotion to You that You desire. I pray their businesses to glorify Your name in everything they do and draw many in their industries to Your Son, Jesus Christ.
