God’s Surprising Role In Your Business's Money

Updated: May 16, 2021

I’ll admit that I worry about money WAY too much.

It’s OK to think about money and plan out your finances. It’s OK that money is top of mind when managing your business. What’s not ok is…worrying.

As entrepreneurs, money is the worst thing we can worry about because it’s so uncertain. No matter how good your product or service is, no matter how awesome your lead generation campaign is performing, something always changes. Facebook changes its strategy, and Google updates its algorithm, and now that cash you were relying on dries up. Or the membership program you once had well-oiled starts to dismantle, and you find yourself in debt because you can’t sustain the costs you incurred.

Business changes always, and money can’t be relied upon, therefore worrying about it is senseless.

How can we change our worry? Where do we channel and equal, but opposite energy? How can we keep money top of mind without letting worry creep in?

Worry is not natural. And it’s not biblical.

Jesus says:

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26 NIV)

There 3 Strategies to focus on when trying to rid yourself of the worry of Money in Your Business.

In all of creation, humans are the only ones that worry. Every other creature just trusts the creator has it all taken care of so they can focus on what they are born to do.

2. Focus on Life’s Importance

Matthew 6:25 Jesus urges you to remember that life is more than about food and clothing. It’s about your family and your impact on this world. It’s about meeting the needs of others, and trusting God will meet your needs simultaneously.

3.Focus on God – Your Father

God has promised us a share of His inheritance. Philippians 4:19 says “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” We don’t need to worry because we’re already on God’s will, we’re in his “trust fund.” You have to imagine like a very wealthy grandfather who succeeded in building an empire, and He’s already got your college paid for and money set aside for you to grow. Imagine knowing that it’s all going to be good for you in life financially, and all you have to focus on is managing that money correctly and doubling its return! You get into trouble in business when you doubt that God’s got your back.

When we Godpreneurs worry, we are trying to play the role of God. And because we call our own shots and generate our money, we are the ones the enemy will use most to make us worry – so we can do what he did and try to play God – which got Him thrown out of Heaven and down here in the first place.

Through Christ, God has already taken care of our business's financial needs. There’s no need to worry.
